County Drainage Board will meet Monday afternoon

•  Consideration of a utility drain easement on the H. Bunn Tile Drain in Jefferson Township.

County Commissioners to meet Monday evening

The Wells County Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

Topics on the agenda will include:

• A hearing regarding Jefferson Township’s appeal for benefits. 

• Review of bid packages for the Wells County Highway Department.

• Discussion of Wells County TRAX FRA grant assistance agreement with Jodi Coblentz and Ben Beer. Also with Beer, the board will discuss a possible supplemental agreement for Bridge 54.

• Consideration of an extension of the Joray Hillis sewer with Eric Gerber. 

• Approval of right-of-way and utility agreements. 

• 2024 board appointments 

• Review of ARPA funds and open ADA coordinator designation.

County Commissioners will hold executive session

The Wells County Commissioners will  meet directly following their regular meeting Monday, Dec. 18, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

The executive session was cited as a discussion of “initiation of litigation or litigation that is either pending or has been threatened specifically in writing.”

Bluffton-Harrison school board will meet Monday

The board of the Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in the school district’s administration building at 803 E. Harrison St. in Bluffton.

Topics on the agenda will include:

• Financial matters.

• Reports and announcements, specifically discussion of sixth grade author project and the 2024 Lilly scholarship. Communications Specialist Jessica Bricker, Assistant Superintendent Julie Meitzler, and Superintendent Brad Yates will also give updates.

• Continued discussion regarding the high school building project envelope and athletic facility needs.

• Personnel matters. 

• Recognition of donations.

• Routine policy review.

• Consideration to adopt resolutions for the Wells County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and year-end transfers.

County Election Board will meet Tuesday afternoon

The Wells County Election Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, in the clerk’s office in the Wells County Courthouse, 102 W. Market St.

The board of the Southern Wells Community Schools will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, to evaluate job performance. The board’s regular monthly meeting will follow.
