Barricades went up Thursday to block access to three downtown alleyways in preparation of upcoming work to transform the alleys into “Downtown Pathways,” a project of Bluffton NOW! Mike Lautzenheiser, Jr., leader of the group focused on downtown Bluffton improvements, said the transformations. “A mix of pedestrian walkways and gatherings spots” are slated to be completed by early March 2024. The north-south alleys affected include the one shown above in the 100 East block between Perry and Market streets. The second is in the 200 East block between Perry and Market; the third alley being transformed is next to the American Legion post between East Walnut and Washington streets. (Photo by Mark Miller)
