Kristen Wall will lead the Southern Wells Elementary School after school board members unanimously hired her as the school’s principal Tuesday.

Wall, the alternative education director at Norwell High School, will officially begin July 1, and she said she plans to stay until she retires.

“I’ve always loved the elementary-aged students,” she said, and she also said she loves Southern Wells’ “small community” environment and “great values.”

Southern Wells Superintendent Trent Lehman said Wall’s “great experience” as a special-education teacher impressed the hiring committee, comprised of elementary teachers, the school’s assistant principal, the high school principal, board members, and him.

Lehman also cited Wall’s experience as the assistant principal at Ossian and Lancaster elementary schools.

Before assuming those assistant principal duties from 2017 to May 2021, Wall served as Ossian’s emotional disabilities teacher for five years, and before that, she taught third and fourth grades.
