Late Saturday night local law enforcement responded to the scene of an all-terrain vehicle accident in Uniondale.
The ATV appeared to have rolled over, injuring driver Jacoby Gibson, 27, and passenger Melissa Watson, 38. According to the police report, Gibson had a hematoma and was bleeding from a cut on the right side of his forehead, and Watson appeared to have a head wound and was throwing up blood. Both were transported by EMS to Lutheran Hospital.
A preliminary investigation stated the accident had occurred at approximately 11:53 p.m. when the 2022 CFMoto ZForce 950 ATV had been traveling at unsafe speeds and rolled while turning. Deputies observed deep divots in the ground at the scene at 6880 N Meridian Road.
The ATV came to a rest facing the cornfield west of the property. Neither Gibson nor Watson were reportedly wearing helmets or seat belts at the time of the accident.
Deputies also located multiple empty beer cans at the scene. Jeremy Gilbert, the owner of the ATV, took responsibility for the cans.
Gibson blew zero percent in a preliminary test. A blood draw was also performed at Lutheran Hospital.
The incident is still under investigation.
