Southern Wells School Board to meet Tuesday

Members of the Southern Wells Community Schools Board of Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will:

• Recognize the success of the girls golf team.

• Consider adopting the 2023 school corporation budget, Capital Projects Fund plan and School Bus Replacement Plan.

• Consider a resolution to reduce an appropriation within the 2022 budget.

• Review 15 separate fundraising requests for approval.

• Accept more than $8,000 in donations.

• Accept a $45,000 grant from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

• Approve an addendum to the superintendent contract through 2025.

• Approve several sports coaching positions.

• Accept several personnel resignations.

• Adopt a new school board member orientation policy.

• Review and approve on first reading a policy regarding materiality threshold.

• Review a request from the Anthony Wayne Boy Scouts of America to use the facility for a recruitment meeting Oct. 25.

• Review a request by Youth for Christ to have a banquet at the facilitiers Dec. 1.

• Review and approve three field trip requests.

• Review and approve of staff conference requests.

The meeting will be followed by a meet and greet with the new superintendent and an executive session for school board member training with an outside consultant about the performance of the role of the members as public officials.
