The Wells County Commissioners will offer financial support for two parties that were added into a lawsuit against the county.
County Attorney Colin Andrews said Monday that Kurt and Lance Fiechter and Mounsey Family Farms have been dragged into a lawsuit as defendants alongside the county commissioners in the matter filed by Gaiser Farms Inc. in April.
The Fiechter and Mounsey families purchased at auction the county owned farm in December. Gaiser Farms, which leased the farmland, is suing the county for violating the terms of the lease contract by allegedly failing to notify them of the property’s sale as spelled out in the lease.
Andrews said the Fiechters and Mounsey Family Farms have retained Tony Crowell as legal counsel, and up to $5,000 from the county will be offered to help support them with reasonable attorney fees in the case. The commissioners approved the financial support 3-0.
