It’s contract renewal time for two of the county’s three school resource officers.
Sheriff Scott Holliday gave the county commissioners a heads up Monday that he is working with Southern Wells Superintendent Brian Sloan to renew the two-year contract for the district’s SRO. The sheriff’s deputy in that role is Chad Bradley.
Holliday said the contract is written so that 70 percent of the costs associated with the department employing the deputy is paid by the school district. Since the last contract was negotiated, wages have changed, Holliday said.
He said he and Sloan have met several times to define the SRO position for the district and Holliday believes they have reached an agreement that is beneficial to the district and the county.
The SRO agreement will be taken to the Southern Wells school board Tuesday for approval and then to the Wells County council for approval in June.
The new two-year contract will be effective this fall when the 2022-23 school year begins.
Holliday said he would be working on the contract for the Northern Wells Community Schools’ SRO next.
