“These students have worked hard and today they’ll receive the awards they have earned,” said Brent Lehman, who has been the interim principal at NHS since November.

Lehman listed the honor students graduating with distinction (13), with high honor (32), and honor (34). Those receiving academic honors diplomas and technical  honors diplomas, plus National Honor Society members, were also noted. Recipients of Golden Shield Awards for excellence in individual subjects were also noted; they received their awards in a ceremony last week.

The program also included community scholarships and awards, Wells County Foundation scholarships, and  Norwell Dollars for Scholars recipients.

The program was held in the school’s gymnasium, and the air conditioning was not functional on a day with temperatures in the mid-80s. The ceremony was  complete in approximately 90 minutes.

Norwell’s graduation ceremony is Sunday, June 5.
