“Power of the Purse” is back in person this year with a luncheon scheduled for June 9.
The designer purse fundraiser for United Way of Wells County made its debut in 2019, but COVID-19 caused the event to be called off in 2020 and to go virtual in 2021.
The event will be held at the Wells County Commerce and Economic Development Center with purse viewings and raffle ticket sales beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon with the raffle drawings for more than 20 purse packages to follow.
Tickets are $30 each for a catered lunch and raffle tickets are $5 each or six for $25. The “Power Purse” package is valued at $3,000 and those tickets are $10 each.
Winners need not be present to win. Those unable to attend the lunch but wishing to participate can view the purses in the United Way office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 7 and 8. United Way Executive Director Pamela Beckford said it would be helpful to call ahead at 824-5589 so they know how many to expect on those days.
Tickets purchased in advance and on the day of the luncheon will be combined into the same drawings on Thursday, June 9.
All proceeds will go to benefit early childhood education “Bright Beginning” programming in Wells County, including Imagination Library and Kindergarten Countdown.
