Firefighters gather behind the car of Mason Werling, 18, Ossian, who was injured after his car was hit by a semi at U.S. 224 and Ind. 1 Thursday afternoon. According to a press release from the Wells County Sheriff’s Department, Werling was southbound on Ind. 1 at 2:16 p.m. and had the green light at the traffic light at the intersection. Billy Miller, 27, of Elkmont, Ala., was hauling steel on a westbound semi. He claimed he had a yellow light, but witnesses told the investigating sheriff’s deputy otherwise.
