Ruth Nestleroad, 72, of Montpelier, passed away at 2:48 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, with her family by her side at her home in Montpelier. She was born on Friday, March 21, 1952, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. She married the love of her life, John Everett Nestleroad on Monday, July 26, 1976, in Blackford County. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2003.
Ruth will be forever missed by her daughter, Mary Powell, Montpelier; two grandchildren; brothers, Keytron Abney, Montpelier, Terry Abney, Montpelier; sisters Ruby (Ricky) Slone, Lexington, Kentucky, Faye Holbrook, Renfro Valley, Kentucky, and Barbara Johnson, Mt. Vernon, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marion Abney Sr.; mother, Della Myrtle (Mullins) Abney; husband, John Everett Nestleroad; brothers, Tenon Abney and Johnny Abney; sisters, Kathy K. Utterback and Zella Miller; brothers, Marion Abney Jr., Keith Ray Abney, Preston Abney and Denzel Abney.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
