This week’s article is all about our FREE Senior Snippets program! These classes are focused on various topics and are for the senior/adult population. These FREE talks will be held at different locations in town, so make a note in your calendar after signing up. Registering is easy; just call 824-6069 or e-mail events@blufftonindiana.gov. Classes will be held in one of the following locations: Washington Park Pavilion (710 S Mulberry), Wells County Public Library (200 W Washington), or the Wells County Historical Museum (420 W Market). Some classes have limited space, so don’t wait; register now.
Senior Serenity — Molly Hoag with the Purdue Extension will present Managing a Stress-Less Mentality on Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. at Washington Park. Aging can bring on new stressors, such as health concerns, financial burdens, loss of independence and increasing isolation. All these things can negatively affect your overall mental health and well-being. This program will help you identify stress and learn healthy ways to manage stress.
Cooking for 1 or 2 — Tired of eating the same leftovers for days? Cooking for a smaller household can be a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be. In this class, we’ll discuss practical strategies for meal planning, shopping and adjusting recipes to reduce food waste and make cooking for 1 or 2 more enjoyable. Join us on Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Washington Park Pavilion for this informative session with Molly Hoag.
Fall Prevention for All Ages — Reducing your risk of falling can easily be done with changes to your environment, habits and physical well-being. You will learn what makes a person at higher risk for falling and easy strategies to prevent falls. Molly Hoag with the Purdue Extension will present this topic on Monday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. in the Washington Park Pavilion.
Coloring for Relaxation — Coloring is a healthy way to relieve stress. It calms the brain and helps your body relax. Join us at Washington Park Indoor Pavilion on Tuesdays from Sept. 24 to Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. for some stress-relieving coloring and activity pages to get you away from your technical gadgets, be creative, and just relax. All supplies will be provided, as well as a small snack.
Wells County History — Enjoy an in-depth look at local history at the Wells County Historical Museum. Classes will be held at the Museum on Wednesdays, Sept. 25 to Oct. 16 at 10 a.m.
Easy Fall Crafts — Get ready to unleash your creativity. Led by Emily Marshall at the Wells County Public Library, this class will guide you through a different fall craft each week. These crafts are designed to be easy enough for beginners yet still allow you to add your own personal touch. All supplies are provided, so just bring your imagination. Classes will be held at the library on Wednesdays from Sept. 25 to Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.
Movie Club — Led by Catherine Campbell. Join Catherine Campbell at the Wells County Public Library for the beloved classic “The Sound of Music” as we explore the fact-and-fantasy lives of the Von Trapp Family Singers. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from Sept. 25 to Oct. at 2 p.m.
Crochet Lessons — Join instructor Kathy Gehrett on Thursdays, Sept. 26 to Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. inside the Washington Park pavilion. She will teach new and advanced students how to crochet. Bring a size H hook. Class size is limited to the first 12 who preregister.
