County Drainage Board will not meet Monday

The Wells County Drainage Board has cancelled their regular meeting Monday, July 1. They will meet will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 15.

County Commissioners will meet Monday evening

The Wells County Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, July 1, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

Topics on the agenda include: 

• Department reports from Sheriff Scott Holliday, Highway Supervisor Shawn Bonar and Engineer Nate Whitacre. 

• Discussion about road conversions. 

• An appointment with Citizens Against Drug Abuse. 

• Proposed 2025 budget for dispatch. 

• An appointment with Jim Sturgeon and Lynn Elliot about the Wells County Historical Society. 

• Covered bridge certification. 

• Statement of salaries and wages 2025.

• Monthly reports, miscellaneous business and right-of-way or utility agreements. 

Markle Town Council will meet Tuesday morning

The Markle Town Council will have a special session at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at the Markle Town Hall, 154 E. Morse St. in Markle.
