County:

Tuesday, 5:29 p.m., W 100S S 300W, Liberty Center. Vehicle observed traveling at 96 mph and did not slow when passing a marked and visible deputy patrol car. The deputy used its lights and siren to catch up with the vehicle, which did not initially pull over. When the vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of CR 300W and CR 100S, driver Diamond Bailey, 18, Hartford City, said she wasn’t paying attention but agreed the speed was excessive. Bailey was transported back to the Wells County Jail, where a body scan showed a foreign cylindrical object on Bailey’s chest. Bailey handed the object, a vape pen, over, and confirmed it contained THC and she had last used it about an hour prior. Bailey was then transported to Bluffton Regional Medical Center for a blood draw. She was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and reckless driving and operating with a controlled substance in the body, both Class C misdemeanors. Bond set at $2,000. Bonded.

Tuesday, 5:56 p.m., S.R. 301 and E. Wenger Court. A red Ford Mustang was observed blowing through a stop sign and past a deputy patrol car. The vehicle was pulled over in a traffic stop, and its driver, Jesse Matlock, exited the vehicle, put the keys on top of the vehicle, and his hands in the air. The driver said he knew why had been pulled over — he had just bought the vehicle and didn’t have any paperwork for it, insurance, and the license plate returns to his pickup truck. His driver’s license also listed an address that hadn’t been updated in two years. Matlock was cited for disregarding the stop sign and driving without insurance and the vehicle was towed. The former vehicle owner confirmed it had been purchased in February and a lost title had been requested and was available for pick-up.

Wednesday, 12:50 p.m., 500 block of Greenwood Trail. Caller reported a 15-year-old had possibly taken a vehicle. Deputy got in contact with the juvenile’s guardian and the juvenile was returned.

Wednesday, 8:33 a.m., S 600W and W. 900S, Warren. Car vs. deer. Deputy requested to put down deer.

Wednesday, 9:12 a.m., E. U.S. 224 and N 800E. Flock camera alerted of trailer stolen from Tennessee entering the county. Trailer towed.
