American Heritage Girls, the Pioneers, were recently awarded a $250 Youth As Resources grant to carry out their project, “Gift Bag to-Go.”

Pictured with the big check are, left to right, front row, Annalise Cornet, Abigail Seder, Claudia Stauffer (Youth as Resources board member), and Malaina Culbertson (YAR board member); back row, Abigail Walker (YAR coordinator), Arissa Bagley, Kailyn Springer, and Ethan Stauffer (YAR board member).

This project provided gift bags for those who attended The Bridge of Hope Gala at Hope Missionary Church this past spring. Throughout the process, the girls learned how to keep a budget, plan for large events, and the importance of considering those with disabilities.

The group is excited to continue being a part of this event in the years to come.

YAR is a program that recognizes youth as a valuable community resource. The program is governed by a youth/adult partnership responsible for awarding grants up to $500 to other local youth organizations which allows them to design and carry out community service projects.

To make a grant proposal, contact Abigail Walker at Family Centered Services by calling 824-8574, emailing WellsYAR@yahoo.com, or going online to www.fcs-inc.net

Fall funding requests are due Monday, Oct. 2.
