City:

Tuesday, 2:01 p.m., North Oak and West Perry streets. Report of motorcycle and van blocking the alley.

Tuesday, 2:11 p.m., Pine Grove Court. Report of suspicious smell coming from apartment.

Tuesday, 2:18 p.m., Comfort Inn and Suites. Caller believes they received a suspicious package.

Tuesday, 3:14 p.m., Pines Mobile Homes. Report of a solicitor attempting to see resident gas bill.

Tuesday, 3:42 p.m., 400 block of West Wabash Street. A woman reported finding a blue tent in her yard and seeing a report in the paper about a tent being stolen. The tent was returned to the owner.

Tuesday, 4:18 p.m., 1400 block of West Central Avenue. Report of solicitor attempting to view utility bill. Advised to obtain business permit.

Tuesday, 4:32 p.m., 300 block of South Main Street. Man reported break in to his house from previously evicted son. Son broke screen door in process and showered before leaving.

Tuesday, 10:38 p.m., 300 block of South Main Street. Previously evicted son ran into the house. Arrested for domestic battery and criminal mischief. Further details to follow.

Tuesday, 11:08 p.m., Bluffton Police Department. Subject gave out information over Instagram and gave money to unknown subject to avoid them sharing photos.

Wednesday, 10:16 a.m., Kroger. Multiple keys and cell phones found at Kroger.

Wednesday, 12:54 p.m., Walmart. Report of ten thefts committed by same person.

County:

Tuesday, 2:04 p.m., west Ind. 124 and north 300W. Driver traveling northbound on 300W failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, colliding with another vehicle. Neither vehicle was towed. 

Tuesday, 2:15 p.m., residence on 400S, Liberty Center. Caller wanted an individual cited for trespassing. 

Wednesday, 4:05 a.m., north Main Street and east 300N. Traffic stop for a vehicle without tail lights. Driver advised he had recently purchased the vehicle and hadn’t gotten it registered. Deputy allowed the driver to continue to its designation, permitting the hazard lights remained on. The same vehicle was pulled over a half-mile down the road and reminded to keep the hazard lights on. 

Wednesday, 10:03 a.m., north 100E and east 800N. Citation issued for speeding.

Ossian:

Tuesday, 7:24 p.m., residence on 1200N. Physical altercation between two women. One of the women had left the scene when deputies arrived.

Tuesday, 8:26 p.m., residence on 900N. Caller reported her neighbor’s dog had crossed into her property and was acting aggressive. The dog owner showed the deputy that the dog was friendly, but the battery in the dog’s electric collar had died. 

Tuesday, 10:19 p.m., Ossian BP. Report of suspicious activity. One taken into custody.

ACCIDENTS

County:

Wednesday, 5:55 a.m., CR 300N near Ind. 116, Bluffton. Mohammad Faisal, 23, Fort Wayne, was driving a 2014 Toyota Scion tC westbound and swerved to avoid striking a deer in the roadway. The vehicle still struck the deer, and the direction of travel was overcorrected into the ditch and striking a utility pole, small tree and a yard. Pemberton’s towed the vehicle. Damage exceeded $10,000.

FIRES

Tuesday, 5:00 p.m., near 3500 West, 800 South. Report of a repeat barn fire. Fire under control approximately 30 minutes later, advised the remaining structure would be a controlled burn.

ARRESTS

Brian Randy Vanauken, 41, Fort Wayne; human trafficking, a Level 3 felony, child molesting, a Level 1 felony, child solicitation, a Level 5 felony, sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 4 felony. No bond set. 

Trevor Leo Hunnicutt, 35, Bluffton; possession of controlled paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $500.
