A man from Warren was arrested early Sunday morning following a high-speed chase.
According to a media report from the Wells County Sheriff’s Department, Seth Kristopher Davis, 21, Warren, fled law enforcement at speeds exceeded 115 mph. He was arrested for resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, a Level 6 felony, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, and reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor. His bond is $6,000.
The report states that at approximately 4:11 a.m., Wells County Deputy Kurtis Brooksher observed a 2013 Ford Edge traveling at high speeds on U.S. 224 and Ind. 1 in Jefferson Township. The deputy then discovered the vehicle’s license plate had expired and was registered to Davis who had an active warrant out of Huntington County.
When Brooksher initiated his emergency lights, the vehicle — already traveling at 80 mph — began speeding up. Brooksher’s report states Davis’ vehicle fluctuated speeds between 80 mph and exceeding 115 mph. The vehicle also made multiple turns without signaling.
Deputy Desmond Carter reported the vehicle ultimately pulled over on Feighner Road between Lafayette Center and Hamilton Road in Allen County’s Lafayette Township, where Davis threw the car keys on the roadway and exited the vehicle. Brooksher said he ordered Davis to lay on the ground at gunpoint until backup arrived. An Allen County deputy arrived to assist.
The media report states Brooksher asked Davis why he ran, and Davis reportedly replied that he had already had a warrant and “didn’t care about his life.”
When Carter arrived, he and Brooksher conducted inventory of the vehicle, where they found what appeared to be marijuana. Davis later admitted to smoking marijuana at approximately 2:45 a.m.
Davis was also cited for traveling 115 in a 55 mph zone, driving left of center, failure to signal lane changes and expired plates. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
