Friday, 5:22 p.m. Report of nails in the intersection of Johnson and Washington streets.

Saturday, 1:06 a.m. Report of someone inside the business at 1303 S. Main St. with no vehicles out in front. Store has new ownership and will now be open 24 hours a day.

Saturday, 1:57 a.m. Caller reported finding a needle on the ground at the intersection of Perry and Johnson streets.

Saturday, 12:09 p.m. 911 call reported from the 1000 block of Clark Avenue. Call was accidental.

Saturday, 12:34 p.m. Alarm reported from KFC, 640 N. Main St. Business representative attributed the alarm to a new person at the window.

Saturday, 2:06 p.m. Report of a potentially intoxicated person at Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Woman had not taken her proper medications.

Saturday, 3:57 p.m. Caller reported that a van had parked in another vehicle in the 500 block of West Wiley Avenue.

Saturday, 5:32 p.m. Individual at Praxis, 1529 Lancaster Ave., reported a case of battery stolen by another patient.

Saturday, 6:22 p.m. 911 call from the 4-H Park, 1240 4-H Road. Call was accidental.

Saturday, 11:33 p.m. Peyton’s Northern, 1111 S. Adams St. Caller complained of faulty repair to truck.

Sunday, 1214 p.m. Alarm sounded at Kendall Electric, 227 W. Wabash St. Building was cleared.

Sunday, 1:10 p.m. Complaint of loud music at 40 Capri Court. Officer was unable to locate.

Sunday, 5:20 p.m., Airplane Express, 407 N. Main St. Individual reportedly asked a woman to pay for his gas.

Sunday, 8:36 p.m., Charles Deam Court. Male reportedly removing furniture out of a structure but a woman said she didn’t believe he should be there.

Sunday, 10:02 p.m. Noise complaint at 40 Capri Court. Resident said he would turn the volume down in his television set.

Sunday, 10:25 p.m. Resident of the 800 block of West Market Street wanted an individual warned for trespassing.

Monday 1:09 a.m. Caller reported that an individual stole a vacuum cleaner from a residence in the 100 block of West South Street.

Monday, 9:09 a.m. Alarm reported at Bluffton Plumbing and Heating, 2085 Commerce Drive. Individual repairing garage door set off alarm.

Monday, 10:55 a.m., 100 block of South Johnson Street. Individual reported a relative was being threatened.

Monday, 11:37 a.m. False alarm at ProFed, 1644 N. Main St.

Friday, 12:58 p.m., residence on South Main Street, Liberty Center. Physical domestic altercation between a juvenile and their stepmother. Parties separated.

Friday, 6:06 p.m., Indiana State Highway Garage. Vehicle with flat tire. Assisted with tire change. 

Friday, 10:18 p.m., Ind. 3 and Ind. 218. Huntington County requested assistance locating a male who took off on foot after an operating while intoxicated accident. Unable to locate the individual. 

Saturday, 11:22 a.m., Timber Ridge Golf Course. Advised someone was on the golf course overnight and several signs were knocked over and some flags were thrown into the pond. 

Saturday, 5:11 p.m., 338E Ind. 124, Bluffton. Burglary alarm. All doors appeared secure and no one was in the building. 

Saturday, 9:07 p.m., Ind. 1 and 350N. Provided lights and standby while a vehicle was towed. 

Saturday, 10:31 p.m., Ind. 124 and 200W. Complaint received regarding a vehicle swerving over the center line. Driver Carlos Herrera Duron, 30, was located on Lancaster Street in Bluffton and pulled over in a traffic stop. Deputy observed the driver having glossy and bloodshot eyes and smelling of alcohol. Duron advised he did not have a driver’s license and had been drinking. Duron refused to exit the vehicle and a deputy pulled him from the vehicle. At this time, Duron told the deputy he only spoke English partially. The deputy explained a series of tests were going to be conducted and Duron said he understood. Duron was unable to conduct two field sobriety tests due to his condition. A preliminary breath test blew at 0.158 percent. A Spanish translator was called to read implied consent, which Duron refused. Jude Kenton Kiracofe signed off for a blood draw search warrant and Duron was transported to Bluffton Regional Medical Center for a blood draw. Duron was charged with operating while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony. He was also cited for driving while suspended, operating with expired plates, operating without financial responsibility and operating while intoxicated prior. 

Sunday, 8:12 a.m., 511E 100N, Bluffton. Dispatched to this area regarding an accident. A vehicle belonging to Michael W. Wayer, 41. Wayer’s father advised he was OK. Only the truck was damaged in the incident. 

Monday, 1:29 a.m., Ind. 1 and 700N. Driver cited for driving with passenger side headlight out. Driver contacted someone to pick him and the vehicle up. 

Ossian:

Saturday, 8:34 p.m., Ossian Town Hall. Caller advised they had attempted to purchase an engine earlier today, but the seller had no title and got upset when asked about a vehicle identification number. 

Sunday, 10:58 a.m., 11169N Meridian Road. Loose goats. Contacted owner. 

Sunday, 11 p.m., 4626E U.S. 224. Report of several people walking around a vehicle at the end of the drive for about 20 minutes. Individuals advised the vehicle had a flat tire and they were waiting for a ride. Property owner requested the vehicle be towed. 

ACCIDENTS

City:

Friday, 11:25 a.m., Ind. 1 at the intersection of Spring Street. Nicole A. Croghan, 39, Bluffton, was driving a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan van southbound on Main Street and, before turning onto East Spring Street, sneezed and looked down. Croghan did not see a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Bradley J. Allen, 40, Montpelier, heading northbound. The two vehicles collided head-on. Croghan had minor abrasions on her arm and shoulder and Allen complained of head pain, but both refused to be seen by EMS. Both vehicles were towed by Freeman’s. Damage exceeded $5,000. 

Friday, 2:20 p.m., Oak Street at the intersection of Wabash Street. Malia M. Lara, 18, Warren, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Elantra southbound on Oak Street and did not see a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Jessica M. Snelling, 37, Bluffton, pulling across the intersection. Snelling’s vehicle struck Lara’s on the passenger side rear. Both vehicles were towed by Pemberton’s. Damage exceeded $1,000. 

Saturday, 10:54 a.m., 1403 West Central Ave. Jennifer R. Ostovich, 37, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caliber and attempted to turn around in a residential driveway. The vehicle ran too far forward and struck the rear end of a 2018 Ford Fusion parked in the driveway. Damage did not exceed $1,000. 

Saturday, 10:01 p.m., Ind. 1 at the intersection of Water Street. Savanna Jessup, 18, Bluffton, was driving a 2010 Buick Enclave and sideswiped a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Abbigail Mittlestedt, 22, Berne. Mittlestedt reported that Jessup did not stop, but Jessup had stopped half a block away and called the police department. Jessup’s vehicle had damage to the passenger side and Mittlestedt had damage on the driver’s side. The next day, Mittlestedt advised she had gone to the hospital regarding a minor head injury. Damage exceeded $5,000.

Friday, 6:34 a.m., Ind. 1, Bluffton. Alit Nayblut, 32, Fort Wayne, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Cruz southbound on Ind. 1 when a deer entered the roadway. The vehicle was towed by Pemberton’s. Damage exceeded $5,000. 

ACCIDENTS

County:

Friday, 10:55 p.m., 200E, Travisville. Units were advised of a property damage incident on County Road 200E in the area of County Road 450S. Deputies located a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck in the south ditch on 450S, appearing to have traveled northbound on 200E, left on the west side of the roadway, striking a utility pole, and continuing north in the field until coming to rest in the ditch. No individuals were around when the vehicle was located. Deputies were unable to make contact with the vehicle’s owner, Clint A. Carpenter, 37, Bluffton, at his residence, but his parents advised he was OK. The damage to the vehicle was to the driver’s side front bumper, front driver’s tire and the roof of the truck. The rear window was also busted out. The utility pole was replaced by AEP. Pemberton’s towed the vehicle. Damage exceeded $5,000. The following morning, deputies made contact with Carpenter, who advised he had swerved to avoid another vehicle. Carpenter stated he had not hit anything, but recognized there was damage to the field. Carpenter said he was frustrated when his vehicle could not run, and decided to walk to his parent’s house, where he fell asleep. A warrant for Carpenter’s arrest was requested for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a Class B misdemeanor. 

Sunday, 2:07 a.m., Mill Street at the intersection of Church Street, Ossian. Savanna McCleese, 22, Fort Wayne, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on Mill Street and lost control of her vehicle, striking a parked 2000 Chevrolet GMT-400 pick-up truck on its back left driver’s side. McCleese’s vehicle rolled onto its side and came to rest in the middle of the roadway. McCleese stated her vehicle had had issues with its power steering and she was unable to steer away from the vehicle. Her vehicle was towed by Freeman’s. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Saturday, 1:48 a.m. Pole fire reported at Wells County Roads 500W and 300S. Liberty Township Fire Department responded and REMC notified.

Saturday, 10:19 a.m., 1100N between 500E and 600E. Ossian first responders were notified of an individual who had a cabinet fall on him.

Saturday, 6:58 p.m., 1529 Lancaster St. Fire alarm reported. Maintenance staff made contact with alarm company.

Sunday, 9:13 a.m. Bluffton first responders called to Pretzels Inc., 123 Harvest Road. Employee not responding properly.

Sunday, 12:53 p.m. Fire alarm at 1529 Lancaster St. Building evacuated. No report of fire.

Sunday, 2:49 p.m. Fire alarm at Markle Health and Rehabilitation, 170 N. Tracy St. in Markle. Alarm may have been caused by birthday candles.

Sunday, 7:03 p.m. Fire alarm at River Terrace Estates, 400 Caylor Blvd. Smoke alarm going off in resident’s room.
