INCIDENTS

City:

Monday, 3:16 p.m. Report of a battery in the 500 block of West Miller Street. Parties had separated before officers were called.

3:40 p.m. Monday, 200 block of North Oak Street. Police responded to a report of a domestic incident. One man, Garrett Michael Werling, was arrested.

Monday, 5:18 p.m. Theft reported from a residence on Pine Grove Court.

Monday, 5:58 p.m. A lost property report came from the 300 block of Arrowhead Trail. Caller said a phone was not delivered and the shipping company said it was.

Monday, 9:24 p.m. Officers called to a house in the 900 block of West Market Street concerning a dispute over possession of a car. Officers remained at the scene until a family member arrived to assist.

Tuesday, 12:42 a.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot at Wendy’s, 860 N. Main St.

Tuesday, 2:36 a.m. Officers called to a residence in the 500 block of West Miller Street in regard to an unwanted party. One individual taken into custody.

Tuesday, 5:37 a.m. Call from Inteva Products, 1805 Lancaster St., regarding a ring stuck on an individual’s finger and the finger was turning purple. Situation handled by EMS.

County:

Monday, 3:27 p.m., North 100E and East 700N. Citation issued for 73 in a 45 mph zone. 

Monday, 3:34 p.m., citizen report of harassment at the Wells County Jail. 

Monday, 3:48 p.m., North 450E and East 300N. Traffic stop. Citation issued for 72 in a 45 mph zone. Jose Luis Peralta Aguilar, 30, Fort Wayne, was also arrested for operating a vehicle without every receiving a license, a Class C misdemeanor. 

Monday, 9:03 p.m., North 300W and West Oak Road. Deer accident. 

Tuesday, 2:38 a.m., North Ind. 1 and East U.S. 224. Traffic stop. Citation issued for 68 in a 55 mph zone. Vehicle smelled of marijauana and driver initially denied using the drug. Two burned marijuana cigars found in the vehicle, but were too small for testing. Driver performed well on drug tests. No further action taken. 

Tuesday, 6:24 a.m., East U.S. 224 and North 100E. Report of a semi truck driving all over the roadway. Unable to locate. 

Tuesday, 10:31 a.m., West Ind. 124 and North 400W. Citation issued for speeding. 

Tuesday, 10:35 a.m., Wells County Sheriff’s Office. In a review of the jail’s texting system, Robert Wine was found to have violated a no contact order against him with over 4,000 text messages in just over a month. A warrant was requested for two counts of invasion of privacy, classified as Class A misdmeanors.

Monday, 1:16 p.m., Tipsy Ditch. Customer acting erratically. Warned for trespassing. 

Monday, 3:43 p.m., 11565N 100E. Deer tag issued for vehicle accident. 

ACCIDENTS

County:

Tuesday, 2:30 a.m., Ind. 124, Bluffton. Thomas R. Neuenschwander, 76, Bluffton, was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 eastbound on Ind. 124 and fell asleep while driving. Neuenschwander woke up in a ditch on the north side of Ind. 124 and attempted to get control of the vehicle, ultimately striking a road sign. Damage exceeded $2,500.

FIRES

Monday,  10:58 p.m. Firefighters were called to 4865S-200W for a possible house fire. Smoke was reported in the attic and basement, but there were no flames. The Liberty Township Fire Department handled the call.

Tuesday, 9:07 a.m. A false alarm was reported at Alexin, 1390 S. Adams St.

ARRESTS

Garrett Michael Werling, 25, Bluffton; domestic battery in the presence of a child, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $25,000. 

Bruce Allen Murray, 55, Bluffton; resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor, dealing meth, a Level 5 felony, possession of meth, a Level 4 felony. No bond set. 

April Dawn McAtee, 46, Fort Wayne; possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, false identity statement, a Class A misdemeanor, possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $13,000.
