The Jefferson Homemakers met March 8 at the Ossian branch of the Wells County Public Library. Sharon Snow and Joey Septer hosted the meeting.
Snow gave the inspirational talk on “Promises of Spring” and led the pledge to the flag asnd the Homemakers Creed.
Twelve women answered the roll call by responding to the question, “What do you do to get ready for spring?”
President Mary Ann Ripperger read 10 facts about St. Patrick’s Day with the most surprising one being that all leprechauns are male — not a single female among them. Also the shamrock is a symbol of the Trinity of the Christian Church because of its three leaflets bound by a common stalk.
In the absence of Sharon Jump, the health and safety leader, Ripperger read an article titled, “Barely the day started,” which focused on don’t procrastinate; just take time to do things with family and friends.
The minutes of the February meeting were read by Carol Baker. The treasurers report was given by Margie Huss. The club collection was taken by giving five cents for the word “spring” and the collection for Coins for Friendship/Nickels for Leadership which is voluntary.
Several “Thinking of You” cards were signed for members unable to attend. Several fish dinner dates were shared.
Under old business, Huss and Ripperger delivered the sewn hearts and candy to Ossian School on Feb. 13.
The distribution of gifts to Riley by the local homemakers were:35 fleece blankets, 126 tote bags, 19 walker bags, $175.00 in dues, and $485 in cash donations.
The Jefferson Club’s responsibility for the Homemaker’s Festival on May 18 will be putting together the program and saying grace before the meal.
The volunteer work day will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. April 20 at the 4-H Park. Those attending are asked to bring a good pair of scissors.
Huss gave an informative talk on preventing falling and Ripperger showed ways individuals could work on your balance.
The club’s next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 12. at the Ossian Library with Sharon Jump and Martha Harris hosting and Jump giving the lesson. Guests are welcome.
