A mile of Wells County Road 400W from 1100N to 1200N has been closed effective immediately.
The Wells County Highway Department announced the emergency closure Wednesday afternoon following a failure of the bridge just south of 1200N, which is the county line. County Engineer Nate Rumschlag stated a sinkhole on the south side of the bridge that needs to be repaired.
Due to the nature of the bridge failure, the department was unable to give a timeline for its reopening. Only local traffic is permitted within the area. Rumschlag said the 400W is open to the residences on it.
