Friday, 9:14 p.m., Almco Steel, 0059 N. Oak St. Extended. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. No sign of foul play found.

Friday, 9:50 p.m., Pine Grove apartments. Report of a child screaming behind the apartment complex. Officers responded but did not see or hear anyone screaming.

Saturday, 11:01 a.m., 201 E. Market St. Caller reported someone tried unsuccessfully to break into his building using a screwdriver.

Saturday, 1:38 p.m., Ind. 116 at the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing on the west side of town. School bus stalled out while trying to cross the railroad tracks. Officers dispatched. The railroad was contacted to hold trains until the bus could be removed from the tracks. The occupants of the bus were evacuated.

Saturday, 6:16 p.m., Williams Street at Wabash Street. Loud verbal altercation between a man and a woman. The man was reported to be in a green Ford Mustang driving while the woman was walking on the adjacent sidewalk. Officers dispatched. The parties had separated before officers arrived.

Saturday, 7:37 p.m., residence in the 300 block of West Wiley Avenue. Alarm of some sort sounding. Officer responded and determined it was a smoke alarm, but there was no fire.

Saturday, 11:27 p.m., while on patrol an officer located four girls throwing toilet paper into the trees of a residence in the 300 block of Oak Forest Drive. He made them stop and clean up the mess.

Sunday, 1:32 a.m., 1200 block of Virginia Court in the Sunny Glenn addition. Report of a suspicious man behaving strangely and knocking on the window of a residence. Officers responded and arrested Steven Patrick Lewis, 51, Bluffton, on one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $5,000.

Sunday, 11:10 p.m., Nesco LLC, 3112 SE-Ind. 124. Caller reported hearing the sound of someone cutting metal coming from the business. Officers and sheriff’s deputies responded and neither saw nor heard anyone nor saw or heard anything suspicious.

Friday, 2:12 p.m., man came to the sheriff’s department to report someone had obtained his personal information and then used that information to open a fraudulent bank account.

Friday, 9:04 p.m., report of drivers of two pickup trucks and one rider on a four-wheeler spinning in circles and “doing burnouts” at the intersection. Deputy responded and located youth on four-wheelers. He advised them to stay on their own property when riding the vehicles.

Saturday, 7:34 a.m., 300N at 100E. Someone left behind a case of glass beer bottles in the roadway that was then hit, broken and scattered by a vehicle.

Saturday, 10:04 a.m., residence in the 300 block of North Tracy Street, Markle. Deputies and officers requested to remove an unwanted man from the residence. He left before law enforcement arrived.

Saturday, 4:39 p.m., Country Corner Deli in Liberty Center. Someone drove away without paying for $38.46 in gas.

Saturday, 9:31 p.m., residence on Marzane Road just south of Zanesville. Report that an adult son had battered his father after the two started arguing over the son doing “whippets” — a slang term for inhaling nitrous oxide to get high. Deputies dispatched and spoke with both parties. The father did not wish to pursue the matter further.

Sunday, 7:14 a.m., Ind. 124 at 400W. Dead deer partially in the roadway. Deputy responded. The carcass was gone when the deputy arrived at the location where the deer was supposed to be.

Sunday, 8:42 a.m., 1000W at 600S in Jackson Township. Dead deer in the roadway. Deputy responded and removed the deer.

Sunday, 9:51 a.m., 450E at 400N. Report of a man walking north on 450E with a towel around his head. Deputy responded and located the man who said he got into an argument with his father and was not permitted to take the only they have vehicle to work in Fort Wayne so he was walking to work. A deputy gave him a ride to the gas station at Bluffton and Ferguson roads in Fort Wayne.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 3:14 p.m. Main Street at Market Street. A 2000 Buick Century driven by Julie J. Cochran, 53, Bluffton, was hit from behind by a Chevrolet Impala that left the scene. The impact propelled Cochran’s Century forward into the back of a stopped 2002 Buick Century driven by Marvin P. Crull, 65, Poneto. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Friday, 10:20 a.m., Liberty Street near Horton Street. A parked 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, registered to Samantha L. Tolson, Ossian, was clipped by a vehicle that then fled the scene. Damage estimated at less than $1,000.

Friday, 10:42 a.m., 640 N. Main St. Tori L. Barley, 21, Bluffton, backed a 2007 Chevrolet HHR out of a parking space and backed into a parked 2016 Chrysler 200 registered to Nichole D. Fritz, Bluffton. Damage exceeded $1,000.

Saturday, 10:01 a.m., Market Street near Johnson Street. Thomas J. Beccheria, 56, Bluffton, was backing his 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck out of a parking space and clipped a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, registered owner not listed on the accident report that was parked in the spot next to where Beccharia had his pickup truck parked. Damage exceeded $1,000.

Saturday, 8:33 p.m., Main Street at Horton Street. Two vehicle crash. Bluffton Fire Rescue and Wells County EMS dispatched. No further information available.

Sunday, 7:55 a.m., Sunset Drive at Lakeside Court in the Walnut Hills addition. A parked 2015 Chevrolet Sonic registered to Abbey M. Osborn, 30, Bluffton, was hit by a hit and run driver driving a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer. Damage exceeded $5,000.

Sunday, 5:30 a.m., Ind. 116 near 600E. Elizabeth A. Bork, 42, Bluffton, swerved to avoid a herd of deer that ran onto the roadway. The 2008 Chevrolet Impala she was driving sustained more than $5,000 damage upon traveling down into a deep ditch. 

FIRES

Sunday, 4:19 p.m., dumpster at 102 S. Metts St. on fire. Ossian Fire Department dispatched and made quick work putting out the fire. There did not appear to be any damage to the dumpster. It is unknown how the fire got started.

ARRESTS

Christopher James Crocker Jr., 34, rural Huntington; driving while suspended with a prior conviction for the same offense, a Class A misdemeanor, and providing false information on an application for a driver’s license, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $2,000.

Mitchell Dennis Bozarth, 61, Bluffton; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500.
