Teen Court Opportunity night offered a fun, introductory evening about the Wells County Teen Court program and included activities, games, and giveaways. Teen Court is a unique way for teens to participate in community service while gaining information about the legal system. Volunteers serve as a peer influence through the proceedings to help to repair harm to victims, communities, and relationships while holding the juvenile offender accountable through skill development and education.

Corbyn Fry presented an overview that included roles of jurors, jury foreperson, and attorneys along with valuable deliberation techniques. The group then worked through a mock case towards an appropriate disposition. Fry is providing various trainings and help with projects for the Teen Court program over the course of the year before heading to law school.

Wells County teens (grades 6-12) are eligible to volunteer as jury members, clerk, bailiff, and attorneys (defense and prosecution). If you are interested in participating in Teen Court, please contact Angie Dial at 260.824.8574 or WellsTeenCourt@yahoo.com
