Ramon Antonio Blanco, 31, Liberty Center, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance or its metabolite in his body, a Class C misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.

Sentenced to 60 days in the Wells County Jail on the C misdemeanor, and 180 days in the Wells County Jail on the Class B misdemeanor. The sentences are to be served concurrently.

All but four days of the sentences were suspended and credited as time served. Placed on probation for 361 days.

Ordered to serve 30 days of home detention, pay all costs associated with his blood test, court costs and probation fees.

As part of a plea agreement, charges of operating a motor vehicle without insurance, a Class A infraction; driving while suspended, a Class A infraction, and stop lamp projecting glaring white light, a Class C infraction, were all dismissed.

On Oct. 31, 2021, a sheriff’s deputy pulled over a 1985 Cadillac driven by Blanco after noticing it had white light projecting from a broken taillight.

While speaking with Blanco about the offense, the deputy observed that the interior of the Cadillac smelled of marijuana. Blanco reportedly admitted to the deputy he had smoked marijuana in the car about six hours earlier.

A search of the car reportedly turned up a small metal tray with a picture of a marijuana leaf on it. On the surface of the tray was a marijuana cigarette and a small bud of marijuana.
