James Robert “Bob” Witter, 85, of Bluffton and formerly of Lynn, passed away Monday morning, Apr. 18, 2022, at River Terrace Retirement Community. 

Bob was born in Randolph County on Oct. 9, 1936, to James Paul and Ruth (Ellis) Witter. He married Gloria Cadwallader on Nov. 25, 1955; she survives.

Bob was a lifelong member of the Lynn Church of the Nazarene and graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1954. He retired from Belden Wire and Cable in Richmond in 1998, after 34 years of service. Bob was also a lifelong farmer in Randolph County and served in the Indiana National Guard. He had a servant’s heart and devoted his life to his church and family.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by a daughter, Terri (Bruce) Miller of Bluffton; a son, Mitch (Linda) Witter of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Carolyn Osborne of Manteno, Ill.; five grandsons, Tim (Kristen) Miller, Jeff (Julayne) Miller, Doug (Nikki) Miller, Alex (My) Witter, and Ben (Kelli) Witter; along with 10 great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Saturday, Apr. 30, 2022, from 1 until 2:30 p.m., at the Lynn Church of the Nazarene, followed immediately by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at the church, officiated by Pastor Tom Govin. Private family internment will be at Spartanburg Cemetery in Randolph County.
