The Bluffton Parks & Recreation will be having a busy week next week. Here are some of the events they’ll be hosting.
5 in 5k Series — Run/Walk: Come out to the Wabash Pavillion at 7 p.m. Tuesday nights, June 18, June 25, July 2 and July 9 for a 5k run or walk. These are casual, no-pressure, untimed 5k’s. A clock will be provided if wanted, and refreshments are at the end of each race. Each race costs $1. There will also be free t-shirts for those who participate in four of the five runs.
Last week, the series had over 90 participants.
Summer Solstice Sunrise Yoga: For just $10, anyone can head down to Pickett’s Run Park for yoga at 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 20. No pre-registration is required for this event.
Afterward, a light breakfast and coffee will be provided.
Chicks run: At 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20 will be a ladies-only run at Pickett’s Run Park.
Anyone wanting to join can head to raceroster.com/events/2024/86896/chicks-run or register on race day at 6 p.m. that Thursday at the rover or Rider Rd 7 Wayne St.
Hot Diggity Dog Jog: Bring your furry friend to a dog-friendly activity day at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at Pickett’s Run Park.
You and your dog can choose from a one-mile run or 5k distances, and to follow the event, a ton of dog-friendly activities that include a photo booth and an agility course.
The cost to join is $20 which includes a doggie bandana, a fanny pack and a frisbee. Funds will raise money for the K9 Kommons dog park.

Fastest Kid in Town: The Fastest Kid in Town competition will be taking place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at Pickett’s Run Park.
Kids ages 3-12 can compete in the race, which is a 50-yard dash for 3-4 year-olds and the rest a 100-yard dash. Ribbions to every participant and the top three boys and girls in the races will be awarded a medal.
Following the races, a foam party, splash pad and refreshments will be available.
The cost for the event is $5, and those interested can sign up at raceroster.com/events/2024/88159/fastest-kid-in-town or on race day at 9:30 a.m.
Parlor City Trot: The annual Parlor City Trot will be happening for the 50th time at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.
The event includes a half marathon 5k or 10k for runners to choose from. Early bird pricing ends on July 2. Participants can sign up at raceroster.com/events/2024/82437/parlor-city-trot.
