The Wells County Health Department is currently pursuing over $1 million available in grants and additional funding, according to a statement Thursday from Health Officer Dr. Kay Johnson.
Johnson advised that the combined total would come from two grants — a Protecting Indiana’s Newborns grant and the Disaster Preparedness grant — as well as funding available through Indiana’s Health First Indiana program.
This additional funding, Johnson stated, “will allow (the Health Department) to expand existing services as well as restore services that have disappeared due to (COVID-19) … We want to expand free services from our community partners as well as expand basic free services similar to those once offered by the Panus Clinic including partnerships with drug companies for free or low cost medications at the health department site.”
Johnson continued, “As instructed by the Health Board at the last meeting, we are diligently working on preparing these grant applications for review by the health board and final submission.”
