Norwell’s Reghan Plunkett officially signed her letter of intent to Bowling Green State University for cheer Friday morning at the high school.
Plunkett will be doing both sideline and competitive cheer for the Falcons, joining a Division I program.
On the sideline, she will be at football and basketball games and some for the volleyball team. In the competitive field, she looks forward to going to nationals every January.
Of many reasons, Plunkett made the choice to be closer to family and because the campus feels like home, but also the chance to be a part of big moments in athletics.
“I’m super excited,” Plunkett said. “It’s giving me a lot of opportunities and doing competitive cheer; I’m excited to go to nationals, see all the big games junior and senior year, and hopefully travel.”
According to Bowling Green State’s university website, the competitive cheer team consists of 20 members on the mat and 6-8 alternates. There are two music performances and one for cheering.
Some of the recent accomplishments the Falcons have recently achieved include the UCA All-Girl Gameday Division 1A Silver Medalist and UCA Small Division 1A Silver Medalist in 2023.
The Norwell senior plans to study exercise science and eventually become a sports physical therapist. She said that the campus is compact and easy to navigate, and her classes would be all in the same area.
