Knights finish JV baseball regular season with loss to Spartans

The Norwell junior varsity baseball team fell at home in its final game of the regular season 7-5 to Homestead Monday.

Of the six hits, Max Babcock and Will Case had two each to lead the team. Noah Schamerloh had two RBIs and a hit.

Babcock got the loss, throwing an inning and allowing five unearned runs. Ryne Thornton threw six innings in relief and allowed two runs on four hits, striking out seven.

Tigers win MS Wells County Invitational golf match

The Bluffton Middle School golf team won the Wells County Invitational on Monday.

The team shot a 226 to win the tournament, while Norwell finished second with a 269 and Southern Wells third with a 289.

Leading the Tigers and the medalist for the match was Gibson Grieser with a score of 42. Following him was Reid Abbett with a 43, Rafe Gerber 45, Gavin Grieser 47, and Abe Atkins 49.

Norwell’s leader was Cash Fegley, with a score of 51, followed by Isaiah Geoglein 52, Reid Bolyn 54, Tripp Mitchell 55, and Eli Sonnigsen 57.

Southern Wells’ leader was Cash Banter with a score of 54, followed by Wade Tappy 56, Dirk Frauhiger and Josh Aulbach with 58s, and Adam Aulbach 63.

In the junior varsity match, Norwell was the only team to field a complete five-player lineup. The Knights shot a 300, Bluffton 158 with four golfers, and Southern Wells 124.

Leading the Knights was Westin Miller with a 51, followed by Illyiana Sailors with a 59, Vivian Reidenbach 62, Emma Burnau 63, and Kyle Adams 65.

The Tigers were led by Cooper Pearson with a 48, followed by Bennett Stoller 51, Parker Klopfenstein 54, and Will Ault 56.

Southern Wells Erika Beavans had a 58, and Drew Lahr had a 66.
