Connie S. Herr, 81, of Jackson Township, Wells County, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at 10:33 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis. 

She was born on Dec. 3, 1943, in Bluffton to Boyd W. and Evelyn L. (Lee) Schweikhardt. Connie lived nearly all of her life in Jackson Township.

On Dec. 3, 1961, Connie married Richard D. Herr, and they shared a loving marriage until his passing in 1998. Together they raised three children, Jeff, Bruce and Sheri Herr. 

Connie was a 1961 graduate of Jackson High School, where she had been a cheerleader. She was an active member of The Church at McNatt in rural Wells County, where she helped on several different committees and made lifelong friendships.

Connie’s greatest joy was her family, who truly were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether traveling, boating or gathering with her “gal pals,” Connie lived for the laughter, hugs and presence of those she loved most. Her family will forever remember her as their biggest encourager, supporter and source of unconditional love.

Survivors include her sons, Jeff (Micky) Herr and Bruce (Twilla) Herr, both of Warren; seven grandchildren, Acacia (Jim) Suhrer of Bluffton, Rachel (Natalia) Valente-Herr of St. Paul, Minnesota, Sadie (Cody) Allen of Bonnie, Illinois, Brady Herr of Warren, Zane (Mackie) Herr of Warren, Abe (McKenna) Herr of Montpelier, and Annie Herr of Warren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister, Gary Schweikhardt and Brenda (Bob) Huffman both of Warren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard D. Herr; daughter, Sheri Herr; grandson, Clayton Herr; and sister-in-law, Janie Schweikhardt.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at The Church at McNatt. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at the church with Pastor Bill VanHaften officiating. There will be an hour of viewing held before the service starting at 10 am. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery in rural Wells County.
