Cathy A. Martin, 76, of Montpelier, passed away at 3:58 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at her home.
She was born on Monday, March 28, 1949, in Bluffton. Cathy was first married to Larry E. Penrod who preceded her in death in 1982 and later married John F. Martin on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1988, in Blackford County; he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2015. Cathy was a 1967 graduate of Montpelier High School. She was a lifetime resident of the Montpelier community. She retired from Peyton’s Northern in Bluffton. Cathy was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma International Alpha Chapter in Hartford City. She enjoyed crafting and gardening.
She will be forever missed by her daughter, Tammie Hinshaw of Celina, Ohio; son, Todd Penrod of Montpelier; daughter, Tara Crist of Bluffton; son, Troy Penrod of Montpelier; sister, Christy (Jerry) Clark of Pennville; brothers, Robert Slentz and Richard Slentz, both of Hartford City; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Erla (Ely) Slentz; first husband, Larry E. Penrod; and second husband, John F. Martin.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home located at 109 W Windsor St. in Montpelier.
A service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier.
