Anna Louise Kaufman, 99, of Bluffton, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 7, 2025, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.

Anna Louise was born on Feb. 25, 1925, in Wells County to George S. and Mabel (Gentis) McAfee. She was a lifelong resident of Wells County and retired from Old First National Bank. She was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma, Wells Community Health Foundation Auxiliary, now known as the Bargain Hut, and First Reformed Church. 

On Aug. 17, 1979, Anna Louise and Thurl Kaufman were married. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Leslie (Mary) Colen of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Pamela (Steven) Paxson of Roanoke, along with four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thurl, and a son, Larry Colen.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. next Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at the funeral home with calling for one hour prior to the service. Dr. Bryson “Gene” Bell will officiate. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Anna’s memory to the Christian Care Good Samaritan Fund and should be sent to the funeral home.
