Dixie Lee Snider, 86, of Bluffton, passed away on Sept. 12, 2024 at Coventry Meadows Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. She was born on Aug. 15, 1938 at Wells Community Hospital in Bluffton, IN. Dixie attended Lancaster in Wells County from 1st through 10th grade and graduated from Warren High School in 1956. On April 12, 1958, she married Edwin L. Snider and they had four children.
Dixie was a rural mail carrier for the United States Post Office in Markle, and retired in 2004. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Uniondale, and was involved in many church activities, including VBS and Church Board. She and her husband Ed enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time with the grandchildren.
Surviving are son, Michael (Dianne) Snider; daughter, Lynette Mankey; granddaughter, Aarika (Noah) Miller; and grandsons, Peyton Mankey, Austin, Ryan, and Logan Snider, all of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse “Earl” Elzey and Lucille (nee Nichelson) Myers; husband, Edwin Snider; son, Murray Snider; and daughter, Laurie Ann Snider.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elzey – Patterson – Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, IN. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with viewing one hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian.
