On Saturday, June 22, from noon to 4 p.m. four area gardens will be open to  visitors, with hosts and hostesses to be the Wells County Master Gardeners.

A $5 ticket will get admission to any of the four in any order. (Rain date will be Sunday, June 23, noon to 4 p.m.)

The gardens include:

Rick & Beth Fiechter: 11722 S SR 1, Montpelier (1st home after 1150 S)

Kathy Geisel: 1008 Ranch Rd. Bluffton (Riverview)

Jerry & Kathy Rauch: 1550 Treyburn Ct. (Bell Brook)

Kerry & Carol Schamerloh: 2176 E 350 N, Bluffton

The photos below are from the Fiechter and Rauch gardens. (Photos of the other gardens will be featured Wednesday.)

Rick & Beth Fiechter — 11722 S SR 1, Montpelier

Look closely in the Fiechter’s front yard flower garden and you will see the antique iron fence that was salvaged from the Nottingham Church’s cemetery. This garden also houses a colorful array of poppies, many that have been shared from other gardeners.
Some colorful hollyhocks have planted themselves along one of the Fiechter’s barns.
Flowers now receive more thought as Beth explains she can hardly wait to check each morning to see what colorful blooms have popped up over night. The varieties include poppies, cosmos, snapdragons, sunflowers, hollyhocks and more. There is a vegetable garden too, however. And just out of sight, at the left in this photo, is a small playhouse that has entertained the Fiechter‘s 20 grandchildren over the years. (Photos by Barbara Barbieri)

Jerry & Kathy Rauch — 1550 Treyburn Ct., Bluffton

Above a vegetable garden, at the right, is located between the stone path to the back yard seating area and the Rauch’s home, at right, in the Bell Brook area of Bluffton
A view of a wooded area is visible from the area that features a small cafe table and chairs. Above, stone steps lead down to a spacious yard that gives access to a small pond. On the covered patio a grill is set up for sharing picnic fare with family and friends. As many of the other gardeners the Rauch’s were not sure what would be in bloom during the walk.
Several small succulent plantings are located along the side of the Rauch home and here is just one of them. (Photos by Barbara Barbieri)
