Simon E. “Pete” Heyerly, 96, passed away Monday morning, July 24, 2023, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.

Pete was born in Adams County, Ind. on July 5, 1927, to Albert and Aldine (Aschliman) Heyerly, both parents preceded him in death. He married Delores F. (Meyer) on June 3, 1951, in Wells County, she survives in Bluffton. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.

He worked for International Harvester in Ft. Wayne for 28 years, retiring in 1983. Following retirement, Pete worked for Heyerly’s Meat Market in Bluffton, Farmers and Merchant Bank, and Outdoor Concepts. Pete enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing trips on Lake Erie and to Canada.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters; Deb (Denis) Fry of Bluffton, Ann (Richard) Nowakowski of Muncie, and Kara (Chris) Pulver of Bluffton; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Cassidy Rose Fry; seven sisters, Jeanette Tonner, Bernice Maller, Alice Gerber, Ada Gerber, Gladys Gerber, Dula Heyerly, and Rosella Heyerly; and five brothers, Luster, Cliford, Herman, Ray and Homer Heyerly.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be Friday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m., at the Apostolic Christian Church East, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Doyle Frauhiger and Troy Leyse will officiate. Burial will follow at Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Adams County.
