Donna I. Brown, 95, of Markle stepped into the presence of God at 8:35 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023, at River Terrace in Bluffton. 

Donna was born Sept. 12, 1927 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Milward and Mary (Rupley) Overholt.

She was united in marriage to Doyle K. Brown on Jan. 12, 1947 in Markle. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2013.

Donna was a Mom, grandmother, farm wife, musician, author, librarian, cook, seamstress and gardener. She was a 1945 Graduate of West Union High School. She was lifetime member of the Markle Church of Christ. Donna was a columnist for 38 years writing for the TAB, Bluffton Newsbanner, and Advertiser. She experienced a lot in her lifetime. Living thru the depression, WWII, and the 60’s. Her cooking was legendary. She enjoyed performing music and did so for many years with her husband Doyle, performing at various community events and nursing homes. She loved kids and became a personal playmate to every child she was around.

Survivors include a son, Robert “Bob” (Connie) Brown of Markle; two daughters, Lynne (Duane) Brown of Kendallville and Georgia (Robert) Whitehurst of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Joyce Kinsey of Fishers, Ind.; seventeen grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Terry E. Brown; four brothers, Floyd Overholt, Lloyd Overholt, Glen Overholt, and Raymond Overholt; four sisters, Helen Bradburn, June Geiger, Dorthy Miller, and Gladys Lund.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle, IN 46770.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, there will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.

Interment will take place at the Horeb Cemetery in Uniondale.
