City:

Tuesday, 3:38 p.m. West Service and South Johnson streets. Unit send to pick up a child that got off at the wrong bus stop.

Tuesday, 3:42 p.m. Juvenile runaway from Wells Community Boys and Girls Club. Juvenile was persuaded to return to the facility.

Tuesday, 3:55 p.m. Theft of a cell phone reported at Bluffton Harrison Middle School.

Tuesday, 4:43 p.m. Wanted subject taken into custody in the 300 block of East Market Street.

Tuesday, 6:35 p.m. Caller reported a woman was trespassing in his camper. Warning was issued to the woman.

Tuesday, 7:44 p.m. Driver arrested at North Main Street and Sutton Circle for driving while suspended-prior.

Tuesday, 7:45 p.m., Life Community Church. Male went to the church with no shirt or shoes on, seeking assistance with demons. He left after people prayed with him.

Wednesday, 3:53 a.m. Suspicious vehicle reported in the 1500 block of Lancaster Street.

Wednesday, 9:26 a.m. 911 call from Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Accidental call.

Wednesday, 8:37 a.m. Student found in  possession of a vape at Bluffton High School.

Wednesday, 11:58 a.m. 911 call from the 1700 block of William Wells Circle. No emergency.

Wednesday, 12:26 p.m. Individual reportedly entered a residence while the occupant was sleeping. Extra patrol was requested.

Wednesday, 1:36 p.m. 911 call from Bluffton-Harrison Middle School. Student had apparently dialed the number by accident. No emergency.

County:

Tuesday, 1:01 p.m., Country Corner Deli, Liberty Center. Report of an individual filling their car with $44 of gas without paying. Deputy planned to review security camera footage. 

Tuesday, Ind. 218 and 500E. Citation issued for speeding.

Tuesday, 3:53 p.m., 6465SE Ind. 116, Bluffton. Report of a license plate fallen or stolen of a vehicle.

Tuesday, 5:14 p.m., Ind. 116 and 300N. Vehicle tagged as abandoned. 

Tuesday, 5:52 p.m., Main Street and Sutton Circle Drive, Bluffton. Assistance provided to a Bluffton officer in the arrest of Anthony Scott Mortimer, 36, Hartford, Ind. During his arrest, several medications were located in the vehicle. Mortimer was arrested for probation violation, a Level 6 felony. No bond was set. 

Tuesday, 9:26 p.m., U.S. 224 and 450E. Vehicle partially on the roadway.

Tuesday, 11:36 p.m., 1200S and 300W. Fort Wayne Traffic Control advised a pilot was being hit with a green laser light coming approximately 12 miles south of the Miller Airfield. Unable to locate source. 

Wednesday, 12:27 a.m., 80E Washingon Street. Deputies responded to an open 911 call. The house was in a lot of commotion upon arrival. The residents advised the phone had broken and they could hear the 911 operator, but the operator was unable to hear them. A deputy observed the phone frozen on a blank screen and emitting a pinging noise. The residents also advised they knew the police were coming and had been trying to put away the dogs, hence the commotion upon arrival.

Wednesday, 12:27 a.m., Southern Wells Schools. Vehicle found unoccupied in lot. 

Wednesday, 12:28 a.m., Almco Steel Products, Bluffton. Driver noticed a man in dark clothing looking in the windows of this business. A deputy made contact with the man, who was just walking a dog. 

Wednesday, 7:53 a.m., Ind. 116 and 110W. Citation issued for speed. 

Wednesday, 10:14 a.m., Ind. 124 and 400W. Citation issued for speed. 

Ossian:

Tuesday, 4:32 p.m., residence on Metts Street. Resident reported his son’s girlfriend had climbed in the window to take his bike. While speaking with the resident and his son, the son’s girlfriend was observed walking down the street. The deputy made contact with the woman, who admitted to breaking but would not state what she took. The deputy noted she smelled strongly of alcohol, was slurring her words, and had an “abusive attitude.” The woman said she wanted to go home, and would not cooperate with the deputy. She was eventually detained and refused a portable breath test. The complainant said he did not want to press charges. The deputy warned both the woman and the complainant for disorderly conduct and all parties went back to their residences. 

Tuesday, 9:32 p.m., Ossian Deli. Hit and run. Corey Matthew, 42, reported a black truck had backed into his vehicle on the rear passenger side and pulled away quickly. The deputy observed gray paint transfer on Matthew’s 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. A sergeant informed the deputy that he had located the driver of the truck, Alvin Morton Smith, 62. Smith stated he was unsure if he had the other vehicle, but there was damage to his rear driver’s side that he had not seen before. 

FIRES

Tuesday, 2:49 p.m. Grass fire reported at Wells County Roads 800N and 150E. The fire was a small working ditch fire and was under control.

Tuesday, 9:18 p.m. Strong smell of burning wire reported at West Walnut and South Johnson streets in Bluffton. Bluffton Utilities called to check transformers.

ARRESTS

Daniel William Graham, 30, Bluffton; probation violation. No bond set. 

Anthony Ty Juan Romonte Rowles, 33, Fort Wayne; driving a vehicle while suspended ­­— prior suspension within 10 years, a Class A misdemeanor.
