INCIDENTS

City:

Tuesday, 2:26 p.m., residence on West Wiley Avenue. Man walking around seeming agitated. Officer made contact and warned individual for disorderly conduct. 

Tuesday, 4:15 p.m., Bluffton Police Department. An additional complaint regarding a man walking in the area seeming agitated. Officer determined the man was just walking around. 

Tuesday, 4:29 p.m., residence on Normandy Street. Woman sitting on the side of the road. Advised she didn’t feel well after yanked down by her dog on a leash. Officer provided transport back to her residence. 

Tuesday, 4:31 p.m., residence on West Wiley Avenue. Welfare check requested on man reportedly not seen in three weeks. Individual not located at his residence, but sister had just spoken with him yesterday.

Tuesday, 5:20 p.m., Wells County Courthouse. Reportedly cats found in a truck. Truck not located. 

Tuesday, 5:27 p.m., East Central Avenue and South Bennett Street. Report of a group of six people fighting. Group transported to the police department.

Tuesday, 8:14 p.m., residence on East Ohio Street. Juvenile calling to report their friend’s mother was mistreating their friend. Officer found nothing wrong done by the mother. 

Tuesday, 9:11 p.m., CVS. Alarm. Officer found a customer locked in the store and let them out. Building cleared and secured.

Tuesday, 10:13 p.m., Praxis. Individual found with sores and infection on leg and neck. Transported to Bluffton Regional Medical Center. 

Wednesday, 3:14 a.m., Praxis. Praxis refusing to make contact with a ride for a patient, advising she violated her contract to complete the program. Officer responded and assisted in arranging a ride to the mission in Fort Wayne. 

Wednesday, 7:14 a.m., Airplane Express and Service Station. Traffic offense. Kevin Richard Holdman, 45, Fort Wayne, was arrested for operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license. 

Wednesday, 7:37 a.m., residence on Premier Avenue. Welfare Check requested. Advised the man was supposed to start a new job on Monday and didn’t show up and hasn’t been seen. Officer knocked hard on resident door but unable to make contact. A dog was barking inside. 

Wednesday, 12:53 p.m., residence on West Washington Street. Protective order violation.

County:

Tuesday. 1 p.m., South Ind. 301 and East Wenger Court. State trooper called for back-up in following a vehicle that had been associated with some suspicious activity at the trailer park. A man and a woman were detained upon arrival. The woman claimed someone at the trailer park had thrown drugs inside the van while they were there visiting a friend. In a search of the vehicle, a backpack with several bags of green plant material was found. The trooper left with the man in custody and the woman received a ride away from the scene. 

Tuesday, 5:15 p.m., Wells County Jail. Inmate reporting his keys had been stolen while he was in jail. The inmate did have a suspect in mind, and was advised to go to the courthouse later to file a civil suit.

Tuesday, 8:03 p.m., West Ind. 218 and South 700W. Citation issued for 76 in a 55 mph zone. 

Tuesday, 9:16 p.m., East 300S and South Meridian Road. Report of loose cattle. Cows belong to Prible Farms. 

Wednesday, 12:05 a.m., residence on Stoney Lane, Markle. Domestic violence situation between two individuals. Caller reported the other party taken a handful of Percocet pills after a physical argument earlier in the day. Caller was able to unload in the nightstand to protect from further violence. Deputies and medics responded to the scene. Melissa Marie Wood, 42, Markle, was arrested for domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500.

Wednesday, 7:24 a.m., North Washington Street and East Market Street. Citation issued for speeding. 

Wednesday, 7:49 a.m., West U.S. 224 and North 400W. Citation issued for speeding.

Ossian:

Wednesday, 2:15 a.m., East Mill Street and North Melching Drive. Report of an unconscious man laying in the roadway with a possible gun laying near him. As deputies were on their way, the man got up and ran east. At the scene, deputies located a cigarette, black and silver gun, and pink sweatshirt in the roadway. The gun was unloaded, but there appeared to be blood on the items. K-9 search returned negative. Witnesses stated the subject appeared to be a young man with long hair wearing jeans, a white t-shirt, and white shoes, and tattoos on his arms. They also stated he appeared to have blood on his skin near the waistband of his pants. Other witnesses stated the man appeared to be limping while running. 

Wednesday, 5:16 a.m., East Mill Street and North Metts Street. Deputy came across a man fitting the description of the subject of the prior incident involving a gun. David James Wolford, 19, Ossian, said he was taking the long way to the park. Deputies identified the smell of alcohol on Wolford, who then blew a .085 percent on a breath test. Psychedelic mushrooms were also found in Wolford’s pocket. Wolford was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and underage possession of alcohol, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $2,000. Bonded.

Wednesday, 7:07 a.m., residence on Noorth Braeburn Drive. Report of theft from vehicle. 

Wednesday, 8:24 a.m., Andy’s Auto Repair. Unsecure premises. Building cleared. 

ACCIDENTS

County:

Tuesday, 5:43 p.m., 2066E 300N, Murray. Jon Soe, 45, Fort Wayne, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima eastbound on 300N and crossed over the center line, causing a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Arsate Zaman, 27, Fort Wayne, to swerve off the roadway, striking a small tree and bushes. Damage exceeded $1,000. 

Wednesday, 3:34 a.m., 3190E 200S, rural Bluffton. Jereme J. Lloyd, 48, Bluffton, was driving a 2017 GMC truck eastbound when a deer jumped in the roadway and he was unable to avoid collision. Damage exceeded $1,000. 

FIRES

Tuesday, 2:51 p.m., 7506E 200N, Craigville. Grass fire. Ossian and Bluffton Fire Departments responded. Fire under control at 4:11 p.m.

Tuesday, 5:28 p.m., Star Hope Cemetery, Huntington. Grass fire. Ossian, Liberty Township and Uniondale Fire Departments responded.

Wednesday, 1:04 a.m., 422 Linnwood Drive, Bluffton. Possible gas leak. Bluffton Fire Department responded. Everyone evacuated. Incident terminated at 1:48 a.m.

ARRESTS

Sierra Ferrara, 36, Fort Wayne; neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $5,000. 

Derek Trent Zerbe, 30, Decatur; identity deception, a Level 6 felony, possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, possession of cocaine, a Level 3 felony, possession of a controlled substance, a Level 6 felony, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. No bond set.
