A motorcyclist was injured Thursday evening in a crash on Main Street/Ind. 1 in front of the McDonald’s restaurant in Bluffton.
According to a Bluffton Police report, a car driven by Thomas Hart, 75, of Albany, Ind., was turning left into the restaurant’s parking lot at 7:52 p.m. Thursday. A motorcycle operated by Jeremiah Sturwold, 40, of Berne, was southbound on Main Street.
Sturwold saw the car turn left in front of his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Hart said he did not see the approaching motorcycle until he was already crossing the southbound lane of traffic. By that time, however, Sturwold said he had set the motorcycle down to avoid an upright crash.
The report said that Sturwold had several spots of “road rash” on his body and was bleeding slightly from his head. He was taken to Bluffton Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
The was damage to the left side of Sturwold’s motorcycle and no damage to Hart’s Ford Taurus.
The report said the primary factor in the crash was Hart’s failure to yield the right of way.
