Seth Dillon of the satirical website Babylon Bee will be the featured speaker at the Wells County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day dinner Saturday, May 20.
The emcee for the evening will be Whitley Yates, the director of diversity and engagement for the Indiana Republican Party.
The leading to the Babylon Bee bills itself as “fake news you can trust.” The publication takes the tone of a traditional news media publication and satirizes real-world events and public figures.
According to his biography on a speakers’ bureau website, Dillon, who lives in Juno Beach, Fla., has had experience with censorship and deplatforming which “has placed him on the front lines of the battle for free speech in the public square.
He bought the Babylon Bee, which started as a Christian satire site, in 2017. In his role as the CEO, “he now speaks on college campuses and at conferences across the country about the effectiveness of humor, the moral imperative of mockery, and the dangers of censorship.”
Yates received the Republican National Committee’s Emerging Leader Award in 2022 and hosted the RNC’s 2023 Trailblazers Reception.
Kyle Hupfer, chairman of the Indiana Republican Party, identifies Yates as “a strong, conservative voice for our party and our state on the national stage.”
The Wells County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day dinner will be held May 20 at the Wells County Community Center at the 4-H Park. A VIP reception is scheduled for 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Those interested in attending should RSVP no later than May 5 to the wells.gop/lincoln website. More information is available at the website, also.
