City:

Friday, 4:22 p.m., residence in the 1000 block of Abbey Lane. Report of a 71-year-old woman in respiratory distress. Bluffton Fire Department first responders, Wells County EMS and officers dispatched. Wells County Coroner contacted.

Friday, 5:17 p.m., Williams Street at Perry Street. Report of juveniles throwing pieces of metal at the power lines. Officer dispatched. The youth were instructed not to throw things at the live power lines.

Friday, 6:36 p.m., Perry Street at Marion Street. Report of juveniles attempting to pull up a street sign.  Officer dispatched. The youth had fled.

Saturday, 8:45 a.m., residence in the 200 block of North Oak Street. Officers requested to remove an unwanted person from the residence.

Saturday, 10:41 a.m., Walmart Supercenter parking lot, 2100 N. Main St. Pole hit in front of the garden department of the store.

Saturday, 2:19 p.m., Lancaster Estates, 1211 W. Lancaster St. Officer requested to tag several abandoned cars to be towed in the mobile home park.

Saturday, 6:23 p.m., residence in the 400 block of East Ohio Street. Caller reported theft.

Saturday, 6:56 p.m., residence in the 500 block of East Arnold Street. Person flagged down to report to a police officer he had discovered a theft.

Saturday, 7 p.m., Woodforest National Bank inside the Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. Alarm triggered accidentally by children.

Saturday, 10:56 p.m., 300 block of East Ohio Street. Report of juveniles ringing doorbells on homes and running away.

Sunday, 12:12 a.m., apartment in the 200 block of West Market Street. Caller reported that a man followed the caller’s daughter home and was looking for a place to stay the night. The man was denied but continued to sit outside of the apartment on a bench. Officer responded but the man was gone.

Sunday, 5:26 p.m. residence in the 200 block of North Baldwin Street. Caller reported her house and car had been decorated with toilet paper and tampons and she knew who did it. Officer spoke with the parents of the juveniles who reportedly did the vandalism and they were told to go clean up the mess.

Sunday, 6 p.m., residence in the 1300 block of West Central Avenue. Landscaping blocks knocked down by someone.

Sunday, 8:39 p.m., Main Street bridge over the Wabash River. Officer assisted a stranded motorist.

Monday, 8:20 a.m., residence on Lakeside Court. Theft of Polaris 800 reported.

Monday, 1:43 p.m., Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Caller reported being assaulted while inside the store.

County:

Friday, 1:40 p.m., residence on 300W south of 200S. Report of an unresponsive 66-year-old man at the residence. Sheriff’s deputies Liberty Township Fire Department first responders and Wells County EMS dispatched. Wells County Coroner contacted.

Friday, 6:03 p.m., Ind. 116 southeast of 700E. Horse running loose. Sheriff’s deputy dispatched. Assisted owner with getting horse back into its pen.

Saturday, 1:44 a.m., Jefferson Street at Woodcreek Drive, Ossian. Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle after checking the license plate and discovering that the registered owner of the vehicle had two active warrant for her arrest. The driver was not the owner but upon investigation, it was determined that the front-seat passenger was registered owner Sa Kay Ra, 25, Fort Wayne. She allegedly gave the deputy a false identity at first, allegedly to avoid detection because she was aware that she had active warrants for her arrest. Ra was charged with identity deception, a Level 6 felony; criminal conversion, a Class A misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor. Total bond set at $7,000.

Saturday, 2:34 p.m., Peyton’s Northern warehouse, 0300W-100S. Report of an unresponsive truck driver in the sleeper of his locked vehicle. Sheriff’s deputy broke out a window of the vehicle after noticing the driver was shaking and not responding to him. The driver reportedly was suffering from extremely low blood sugar. He was treated by Wells County EMS medics. Liberty Township Fire Department first responders assisted.

Saturday, 7:42 p.m., Ind. 1 at 350N. Report of a man in dark clothing walking alongside the road presenting a traffic hazard. Deputy responded and located the man who said he was walking from Ossian to his residence in Bluffton.

Sunday, 1:15 a.m., Rose Road. Someone discarded a mattress along the roadway.

Sunday, 2:11 p.m., Ind. 1 near 1100N. Vehicle hit and killed a deer. Sheriff’s deputy responded but the owner of the vehicle advised the deputy her insurance company would not cover a car-deer crash and she did not want an accident report.

Sunday, 2:58 p.m., residence on West Hancock Street in Uniondale. Altercation between a man and a woman. Deputies responded. James John Keller, 38, of that address, was charged with criminal recklessness, a Class B misdemeanor; domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor; domestic battery causing bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a Level 5 felony; and strangulation of a pregnant woman, a Level 5 felony. No bond set.

Sunday 5:35 p.m., residence on Second Street in Poneto. Caller upset that a neighbor’s golden retriever jumped on her children frightening them. Sheriff’s deputy spoke with the dog owner about allowing their dog to roam.

Monday, 3:12 a.m., residence on 700N west of the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing. Verbal altercation between husband and wife over possession of a vehicle they own. Deputies responded. Situation calmed.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Friday, 2:50 p.m., Main Street at Commerce Drive. A 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Gabriel D. Valentine, 36, rural Bluffton, hit a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by Audrey R. Didion, 21, Ossian, from behind. Neither driver was injured. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Monday, 7:14 a.m., Main Street at Dustman Road. Jeffery Hewitt, 62, Ossian, changed lanes in his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and collided with a 2005 Honda Odyssey van driven by Joshua Fry, 41, Bluffton. The van was in the lane adjacent to the pickup truck. Damage exceeded $2,500.

FIRES

Friday, 2:15 p.m., 300W at Oak Road. Uniondale and Markle fire departments paged for a small grass fire on the Wabash River bank.

Saturday, 12:56 p.m., Dennis and Debra Pulfer residence, 1285N-600E. Fire in a trash barrel spread to a field. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. Ossian dispatched for mutual aid, grass rig dispatched from the Preble Fire Department, Liberty Township Fire Department placed on standby. Tractor and plow brought in to create a fire break. Fire under control at 1:42 p.m.

Monday, 8:27 a.m., Norwell High School, 1100E-U.S. 224. Trash can on fire in one of the restrooms

ARRESTS

Leilah Da Nae Harmon, 23, Marion; operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalency of .15 percent or more, a Class A misdemeanor; operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor; and leaving the scene of a crash that causes serious bodily injury while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor. Bond set at $5,000.
