Auditions are this coming weekend for the Wells Community Theater’s early-December holiday production of the musical version of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and a large cast is needed.
There are 44 named roles in the production, of which 21 are singing roles. Four of the singing roles are four children.
The show will be directed by Joy Cash, and all of the roles — including the role of George Bailey, played by Jimmy Stewart in the timeless 1946 movie — are “up for grabs” in the auditions.
Auditions are scheduled for 6, 7, and 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, and at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10. Auditions will be held at the Life Community Church, 428 S. Oak St. in Bluffton.
“We do need a large cast for this show and a lot of help behind the scenes as well,” Cash said.
Otto “Tank” Lowe, a veteran director of WCT productions, is hoping for a big turnout this weekend.
“I think I can speak for Joy on this, we would love to see 50 people or more at auditions,” Lowe said. “We rarely cut anyone. If you want in you are probably in.”
Those auditioning for the show are asked to prepare one minute of singing that shows the vocalist’s range.
The rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions. The goal is that children will not be kept past 8 p.m. until the week before the show.
Performances are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Dec. 2 through Dec. 4, at Life Community Church.
Another WCT show, the comedy “Leading Ladies,” will be presented Oct. 7 and 8 at Life Church.
