Steven K. “Rube” Trubey, 71, of Geneva, entered into the presence of our Lord on Saturday, July 23, 2022 due to cancer complications.
He was born on May 20, 1951, in Bluffton, Ind. to Dr. C. W. “Bill” & Barbara Trubey and was a devoted husband to Janet “Jan” Rhodehamel. Their marriage was on October 31, 1980, in Redwood City, Calif. His parents and wife preceded him in death.
Steve attended Bluffton High School, Class of 1969, and pursued an accounting degree while he and Jan lived in California. Steve was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Presbyterian Church. He worked as a Parts Department Manager at Hiday Motors in Bluffton and Courtesy Ford in Decatur before his retirement. Steve enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, reading and was a master of Trivial Pursuit. He also loved listening to music, attending concerts, cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. His smile, warm hugs and compassion will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Steve and Jan were not blessed with children. He is survived by his two sisters, Robin Trubey (Jack) Thornburgh and Elizabeth “Beth” Trubey, both of Bluffton and Gordon “Don” Trubey of Brooklyn, N.Y. Steve’s older brother, C.W. “Chuck” Trubey, Jr. preceded him in death.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Public graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Lyle Breeding officiating at Elm Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steve’s honor to The Garage Youth Center in Bluffton and can be made through the funeral home.
