City:

Friday, 2:29 p.m., 1300 block of Stogdill Road. Vehicle stuck half on and half off the street. Officer assisted in pushing the vehicle off the street.

Friday, 5:09 p.m., Praxis, 1529 Lancaster St. Report of a man walking the hallways intentionally cutting his hand with broken glass. Officers and Wells County EMS responded. Man transported to Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Friday, 6:52 p.m., residence in the 500 block of West Miller Street. Two women arguing loudly over parking spaces. They had separated before an officer arrived.

Friday, 11:24 p.m., third pulloff along the Rivergreenway on River Road. Suspicious vehicle parked in the pulloff. Officer responded. Advised the occupants to move along for the night.

Friday, 11:29 p.m., first pulloff along the Rivergreenway at River Road and Orchard Ridge Drive. Suspicious vehicle parked in the pulloff. Officer advised occupants to move along for the night.

Saturday, 1:09 a.m., Praxis, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officer requested to remove a disorderly patient at the substance abuse treatment facility. The patient was transported to Parkview Behavioral Health.

Saturday, 3:36 a.m., Erie Insurance, 1120 N. Main St. Suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of the business. Officer responded and discovered a man sleeping in the vehicle. He advised he was waiting for his boss to arrive at 6 a.m. and rent him a motel room at the The Budget Inn.

Saturday, 7:51 a.m., Kroger, 1555 S. Harrison Plaza. Caller advised she was allowing a group to sell T-shirts from the parking lot, but they were using lit propane tanks to stay warm, which the caller did not like. Officer responded but noted that the tanks were simply propane heaters which are not uncommon and it was the only way for the vendors to stay warm.

Saturday, 8:12 a.m., Kroger grocery store, 1555 S. Harrison Plaza. Vehicle parked in the grocery pickup parking space for several days. Caller anted the vehicle removed. It was towed.

Saturday, 8:50 a.m., residence in the 1100 block of West South Street. Caller requested an officer to remove her ex-husband from the residence.

Saturday, 9:52 a.m., Praxis, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officers dispatched on a report of a female former patient who was being unruly and disruptive. Officers responded. The woman left but reportedly threatened to burn the building down. Officer spoke with the woman, but she reportedly was uncooperative.

Saturday, 10:24 a.m., Pine Grove apartments. Loud verbal altercation between a man and a woman outside one of the apartment buildings. Officers responded but could not find anyone arguing.

Saturday, 11:06 a.m., Bluffton Regional Medical Center, 303 S. Main Street. Officer served an Allen County warrant for arrest on Angela S. Ingram, listed as homeless, for a verified petition for revocation of suspended sentence and probation.

Saturday, 11:22 a.m., Praxis, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officers responded to a 911 call. Mother of a patient  requested by the staff to leave the facility for the day.

Saturday, 3:32 p.m., residence in the 900 block of Eastmoor Drive. Bluffton police officer assisted a woman who was locked out of her home.

Saturday, 5:27 p.m., Main Street at Willowbrook Trail. Bluffton police officer pulled over a vehicle and arrested the driver, Joshua James Royster, 41, Berne, for driving while suspended with a prior conviction, a Class A misdemeanor. Released on own recognizance.

Saturday, 9:19 p.m., Lancaster Street at Adams Street. Report of a homeless man walking on the side of the road. Officer, with the assistance of the Salvation Army, was able to find the man a room for the night.

Sunday, 10:21 a.m., Bluffton Wastewater Treatment plant, 702 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. No sign of foul play found.

Sunday, 4:10 p.m., two juveniles smoking at the corner of Walnut and Williams streets. Officer took both home. The parents of neither were home but the officer intended to contact them later.

Monday, 12:01 a.m., Harrison Road at Wayne Street. Officer gave a courtesy transport for a woman walking in the frigid weather without a coat and wearing short sleeves.

County:

Friday, 9:32 p.m., Ind. 116 east of 200N. Sheriff’s deputy used his department issued shotgun to put down a small doe with a broken leg.

Saturday, 6:33 p.m., 200W at Ind. 124. Stop sign hit and bent down. Sheriff’s deputy responded and propped the sign back up as best as he could. Indiana Department of Transportation contacted to replace the sign.

Sunday, 2:05 a.m., Ind. 1 at 1200N. Sheriff’s deputy, while on patrol, decided to perform a license plate check on the vehicle ahead of him and discovered that the vehicle was registered to a woman who had a suspended driver’s license. The deputy pulled the vehicle over and arrested Valerie Bobette Sager, 43, Bluffton, on one count of driving while suspended with a prior conviction, a Class A misdemeanor. Her driver’s license had a reinstatement date of Dec. 9, 2022. 

Sunday, 3:25 p.m., residence on 900N east of Ossian. Caller reported receiving odd texts and nude photos. Deputy checked the texts and noted it was a scam and told the woman not to respond.

Sunday, 8:16 p.,m., Marzane Road near 1100N. Large pieces of furniture in the road creating a traffic hazard. Markle police officer responded and removed the furniture.

Monday, 1:22 a.m., Main Street at Oak Forest Drive on Bluffton’s north side. Deputy pulled over a vehicle for having a driver’s side taillight out and arrested the driver, Joel Tervon Ewing, 23, Fort Wayne, for possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor. Ewing was released on his own recognizance. The deputy observed in his report that when speaking with Ewing, the deputy noticed an odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A second deputy, who arrived to assist with the traffic stop, reported being able to see a small tray with what appeared to be marijuana on the passenger side rear floor board. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up a plastic zip-top bag with a green leafy substance inside with the odor and appearance of marijuana. Reportedly the bag weighed eight grams.

Monday, 3:02 a.m., driver on Hoosier Highway reported he was westbound when he saw a train approaching the Hoosier Highway railroad crossing. The driver did not think he would be able to stop in time, so he swerved to the right, drove off the road and the vehicle became mired in deep snow.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Friday, 7:18 p.m., Main Street at Wabash Street. At the time of the crash, the traffic signal at the intersection was not operational. Although stop signs are posted only on Wabash Street, many drivers passing through the intersection have been treating the unlit signal as a four-way stop per the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles protocol on signals that are temporarily unlit. Merlin E. Troyer, 49, Bluffton, was driving a Chrysler Town & Country van south on Main Street. Daniel Marshal, 29, Indianapolis, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu east on Wabash Street. Marshal stopped and then proceeded into the intersection. Troyer did not stop and the two vehicles collided causing more than $5,000 damage.

Sunday, 7:07 a.m., Walmart parking lot, 2100 N. Main St. Bruce W. Prater, 54, Bluffton, backed a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van out of a parking space, turned too tightly, and scraped the base of a pole in the lot causing more than $1,000 damage.

Tuesday, Feb. 1, 6:35 p.m., Michael Kinser residence, 11881SE-Jeff Road. Anthony D. Compton, 58, Wyandotte, Mich., was turning around a 2021 Freightliner semi registered to LGSI Equipment of Indiana, Hammond, Ind., in Kinser’s driveway when the semi left deep ruts in Kinser’s yardand the trailer of the semi snagged an electrical ser-
