INCIDENTS

City:

Wednesday, 7:21 p.m., residence in the 1400 block of West South Street. Child accidentally dialed 911 on a cell phone. Officer responded. It was determined that the call was accidentally placed, however the officer ended up placing Austin Douglas Reno, 23, of that address, under arrest on a warrant for violating probation. He was held without bond.

Thursday, 1:58 a.m., residence on East Ohio Street. Bluffton Fire Department first responders, officers and Wells County EMS responded to a report of a 26-year-old man suffering from a possible drug overdose. Officer administered Narcan to bring the man around. He was taken to Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Thursday, 5:24 a.m., semi parked in the Walmart parking lot, 2100 N. Main St. Report of a man and a woman embroiled in a loud verbal altercation. Officers responded. Situation calmed.

Thursday, 7:48 a.m., Reed’s Do-It Best Hardware, 1879 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. Alarm accidentally tripped by an employee.

Thursday, 11:12 a.m., Western Avenue near Peyton’s Northern. Semi stuck in the snow on Western.

Thursday, 12:12 p.m., Lancaster Senior Villas, 1800 S. Wayne St. Report of a vehicle stuck in the snow at the entrance to the villas. Officer and a private citizen were able to push the vehicle out of the snow drift.
Thursday, 12:25 p.m., Adams Street at Western Avenue. Semi slid off road into the ditch. Semi was removed from the ditch.

Wednesday, 7:03 p.m., 200S at Hoosier Highway. Semi slid off the road.

Wednesday, 7:13 p.m., 100E at 100N. Vehicle slid off the road.

Thursday, 4:42 a.m., Ossian Elementary School, 213 S. Jefferson St. Burglar alarm. Officer and deputy responded. They discovered an unlocked door at the school but there were no footprints in the snow or any indication anyone had opened the door.

Thursday, 4:51 a.m., Ind. 1 at 500N. Deputy assisted a stranded motorist whose vehicle had ran out of gas.

 Thursday, 5:32 a.m., Ind. 1 at 850N. Sheriff’s deputy assisted a motorist whose Ford Super Duty pickup truck broke down in the middle of the road. Tow service contacted and removed the pickup truck from the road.

Tuesday, 5:30 p.m., YMCA parking lot, 550 W. Dustman Rd. Dakota D. Perry, 16, rural Bluffton, backed a 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup truck out of a parking space. As he was doing so, he turned too quickly and clipped a parked 2008 Mercury Mariner in the adjacent parking space. The Mariner was registered to Kristen R. Areland, 43, Bluffton. Areland was sitting in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Wednesday, 4:20 p.m., Ind. 1 near 450S. Christopher A. Mettert, 26, Montpelier, was driving a 2006 Nissan Altima north on Ind. 1 when he lost control of the vehicle on a snow-covered curve, slid off the road into a steep ditch. Damage to the car exceeded $2,500.

Thursday, 6:45 a.m., Ind. 1 north of 850S. Hollie S. Stewart, 33, rural Dunkirk, was driving a was driving a 2005 Ford Mustang south on Ind. 1 when the car slid out of control on the snow-covered roadway, slid off the road and hit an American Electric Power pole. Damage exceeded $1,000.
