Claron E. Boots, 90 of Bluffton, passed away early Monday morning, January 31, 2022, at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Claron was a longtime member of the Markle Church of Christ, where he served as trustee, usher, worked with Communion and counted attendance. Claron was a 1950 graduate of Garnett High School in Garnett, Kansas. 

He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He had worked at NIPSCO for 34 years, retiring in 1997. He also drove truck for Helena for several years. Claron enjoyed farming, gardening and was very gracious in giving his home grown produce to family and friends. Claron was a hard worker and enjoyed working. He greatly enjoyed taking the grandkids and friends on golf cart rides around the property.

Claron was born January 28, 1932, in Garnett, Kan., a son of the late Oscar and Edith List Boots. 

He was united in marriage to Beverly J. Siela October 26, 1957, in Markle. Beverly survives.

Additional survivors include: two daughters, Judi Flowers of Bluffton and Joni (Joe) Tape’ of Columbia, Md.; a son, Dave (Sharilyn) Boots of Bluffton; six grandchildren, Chris (Amber) Flowers, Jamie (Andrew) Tigner, Jared G.R. Tape’, Jaqueline Tape’, Kyler Boots and Kiersten Boots; thirteen great grandchildren, Eli Flowers, Cal Borne, Sophia Huss, Haylie Tigner, Hunter Tigner, Harper Tigner, Hudson Tigner, Aniyah Tape’, Leila Tape’, Jared E. Tape’, Caden Tape’ and Ace Wheeler; a brother, Dale (Barbara) Boots of Kansas; and a sister-in-law, Alberta Boots of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Bob Flowers and three brothers, Harold, Paul and Lawrence Boots.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s health guidelines.

Funeral services will also be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 4 p.m. following the visitation at the Markle Church of Christ with Gerald O. Moreland officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date at the Markle Cemetery.
