Beverly J. “Bev” Elzey, 82, of Uniondale, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022 at the Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Bev was a 1956 graduate of Lafayette Central High School. She was a lifetime member of Uniontown Church of Christ where she was a board member and caretaker of the church and Uniontown Cemetery for many years.

She enjoyed going to the library and was very active, going out to breakfast and lunch almost daily. Bev loved the outdoors, gardening, walking her dog and bird watching. She enjoyed quilting, doing puzzles, making cookies, doing crafts and feeding her cats.

Bev was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a frequent patron at the Markle Pancake House, Millie’s, and Richards Restaurant. She enjoyed spending time with her dog Sunshine. She would bring home half of her meal to share with the dog and they would have an evening snack together.

Bev valued family time and tried to get together every week. She loved spending time with her grandchildren doing cookies, popcorn and crafts. She always made things for them including individual blankets for each of them at Christmas time. She enjoyed family birthday parties and taking her grandchildren out for ice cream when she picked them up from school or activities. Ice cream was available at all family get-togethers because she knew they loved it so much. She especially loved sitting out on the deck, fishing and eating with the family at the pond.

Bev always had a smile on her face and would talk to everyone she met. She loved life and had no plans of slowing down.

Bev was born April 29, 1939, in Allen County, the daughter of Glenn and Verdonna Brindle Platt.

She was united in marriage to Robert Elzey Sept. 14, 1957, at the Uniontown Church of Christ. Robert preceded her in death Sept. 12, 2014.

Survivors include two grandsons, Stacey (Melissa) Fisher of Uniondale and Kyle (Shelby) Fisher of Bluffton; a son-in-law, Gary Fisher of Uniondale; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Madison, Camden, Kenley, and Ryker; and her beloved dog, Sunshine.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Glennda Fisher; a granddaughter, Nicole Fisher; and a brother, Robert Platt.
