The girls’ swimming season began over the weekend with the annual Norwell Invitational.

The girls’ only event was topped by the host school Norwell, who took home first place with 307 points — 121 points higher than second place Angola.

Norwell had a total of three events capture first place: Emerson Meredith in the 100-yard freestyle, Marlee Meredith in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard freestyle relay team with Annalise Cornett, Ryleigh Huffman and the Meredith’s.

The Knight girls’ next meet will be at home against Adams Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Point scorers for Norwell were:

• The 200-yard medley relay third place of Rilynn Ervin, Huffman, Marlee and Emerson Meredith. The second team finished sixth with Faith Grant, Emma Easley, Ellie Bales and Molly Threewits.

• Cassie Coyne fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and Olivia Daniel ninth.

• Ervin fifth in the 200-yard IM and Karrigan Melcher seventh.

• Marlee Meredith first in the 50-yard freestyle and Easley seventh.

• Huffman fifth in the 100-yard butterfly, Threewits seventh and Easley eighth.

• Emerson Meredith first in the 100-yard freestyle and Kylee Hannie ninth.

• Coyne second in the 500-yard freestyle, Melcher fifth and Daniel seventh.

• The 200-yard freestyle relay team first with Cornett, Huffman and the Meredith’s. Kennady Bixler, Ellie Bales, Dessie Fritts and Hannie 11th.

• Cornett third in the 100-yard backstroke, Ervin fourth and Grant eighth.

• Marlee Meredith first in the 100-yard breaststroke Emerson Meredith second and Bales 10th.

• The 400-yard freestyle relay team third of Melcher, Ervin, Cornett and Coyne. Hannie, Daniel, Easley and Huffman sixth.
