Ossian Park Board members met at Melching Park before the meeting on Monday evening to discuss ways to improve the area. They tested the equipment personally.
President Jay Esparza said volunteers are needed to help fix old bathrooms, repaint the pavilion, lay new mulch, as well as additional repairs. A swing-set is available to be installed at Melching Park, however, there are not currently enough resources available. The project will require multiple volunteers, cement, and professional assistance.
Board member Jarod Kurtz suggested reaching out to a personal contact for help. The board agreed with the suggestion and discussed the potential of beginning the installation of the swing-set in the fall.
Board member Jeff Osborn was voted in as Vice President at the meeting. Kurtz made a motion and Esparza seconded.
“Thank you, Jeff,” Esparza said. “I really appreciate your help and interest and everything you’re doing.”
Esparza suggested the idea of designating each park in Ossian to a specific board member. He explained members would potentially act as a liaison for each park, keeping the board informed of needs and enlisting volunteers to help.
Upcoming events for the town were also discussed at the meeting, including a four-hour long concert this Saturday at the Archbold-Wilson Park as a part of the summer concert series. The board also discussed several popular Halloween events that will return in October.
