City:

Friday, 3:47 p.m., 1st Source Bank. Caller requested welfare check for young boy in green jacket who was being screamed at by woman with him. Officers were unable to locate.

Friday, 5:17 p.m., Whicker Park. Welfare check requested for unattended children at the park. Officers spoke with 11 year old who stated he is fine watching younger sibling.

Friday, 6:13 p.m., 800 block of West Washington Street. Welfare check requested for woman who fell off bike. Woman advised she was fine and declined medics.

Friday, 9:05 p.m., Save On Liquor South. Report of woman slapping male and driving away. 

Saturday, 1:00 a.m., 700 block of South Williams Street. Caller with extraordinary hearing reported noise complaint of power washing from neighbor, who was quietly using a garden hose. 

Saturday, 4:33 a.m., 300 block of Crestwood Court. Report of a bat in the house.  Unable to locate bat.

Saturday, 3:00 p.m., Bluffton Regional Medical Center. OB department called to report a battery against a patient. 

Saturday, 5:17 p.m., South Morgan Street and West Central Avenue. Report of woman laying on ground by stop sign. Woman advised she wanted to lay down and didn’t feel well. 

Saturday, 5:38 p.m., North Main Street and East 200 North. Report of woman sloped over at the wheel. She advised she ran out of gas. It was a slump of defeat rather than impairment. 

Saturday, 6:27 p.m., Budget Inn. Report of a custody issue; son did not want to go with mother.

Saturday, 8:16 p.m., 600 block of West Arnold Street. Report of disrespectful juveniles. 

Saturday, 8:37 p.m., Zestos Ice Cream. Caller requested assistance identifying scam, stated there was someone on the phone posing as a Bluffton officer. It was indeed a scam. 

Saturday, 8:40 p.m., 400 East Ohio Street. Report of dog on top of child, welfare check requested. Child is fine. 

Saturday,  8:44 p.m., Praxis. Fire alarm pulled; building evacuated. No fire.

Saturday, 10:11 p.m., 300 block of Crestwood Court. Report of a bat in the house.  Unable to locate bat.

Saturday. 10:11 p.m., 900 block of West Wabash Street. Several reports of fireworks.  Officers advised people of the ordinance. 

Saturday. 11:32 p.m., Walmart. Report of semi in lot. Driver was performing reset of truck. Officer advised he could stay for the evening and then leave early in the morning when completed. 

Sunday, 8:42 a.m., 500 block of West Wiley Avenue. Report of a dog in car. 

Sunday, 9:42 a.m., 600 block of South Jersey Street. Caller reported theft of bike seen on security camera footage.

Sunday, 12:18 p.m., Walmart. Report of semi trucks blocking parking lot.

Sunday, 12:44 p.m., Budget Inn. Caller reported son does not want to visit with mother. Officer advised it is a civil matter and a judge is required to determine custody decisions. 

Sunday, 8:23 p.m., 200 block of East Washington Street. Caller requested officer check property he was worried was “weapon grade” marked “Assassin” on the side. The officer and the internet determined the item was in fact a $10 laser pointer from Ebay. 

Sunday, 1:24 a.m., Walmart. Caller requested welfare check for man throwing up outside of his truck. Man signed off with medics and said he is staying there to sleep in his truck. 

Monday, 7:36 p.m., Scooters Coffee. Caller reported vandalism to her car. 

Monday, 12:34 p.m., West South and South Oak streets. Caller reported husband took keys to her car and walked away. Husband returned the keys and woman advised she did not need an officer. 

County:

Friday, 6:16 p.m., South 450E and East River Road, Bluffton. Report of an Amazon truck stopped on the bridge with its hazard lights on and door open. Keys were not found in the vehicle. Amazon security did not respond. Vehicle was towed by Pemberton’s at 7:03 p.m.

Saturday, 9:56 a.m., 2738W 800S, Poneto. Pop bottle with crystals inside found in the woods. Possible meth trash. A deputy collected and disposed of the bottle. 

Saturday, 3:19 p.m., West Ind. 124 and North 500W, Markle. Traffic stop initiated on a vehicle traveling at 87 mph in a 55 mph zone. Driver Jaedon Swan apologized and admitted speeding. The vehicle’s license plate returned to another vehicle and Swan’s license returned as suspended prior. Swan was taken into custody and the vehicle was towed. 

Sunday, 11:27 a.m., residence on 500W, Markle. A property owner reported that two vehicles pulled into the driveway and two men exited one of the vehicles. One of the residents asked if they needed any help through the camera system and the men left. The interaction was recorded through the cameras. 

Monday, 7:54 a.m., South Adams Street and West Lancaster Street, Bluffton. Citation issued for 74 in a 55 mph zone. 

Ossian:

Friday, 6:17 p.m., residence on Main Street. Caller reported a dog bite by an animal they owned. The caller had received medical attention for the bite already, and was advised of the quarantine procedure for the dog. 

ACCIDENTS

County:

Thursday, 10:30 p.m., CR 1000S near 500E, Petroleum. Taylor S. Pauley, 28, Bluffton, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck westbound on 1000S and the vehicle began fishtailing, leaving the road on the south side and rolling on its top. Pauley stated he lost control due to a deer running into the roadway. The crash was not discovered until the following morning at 6:50 a.m., but Pauley stated it happened between 10:30 and 11 p.m. the night before. An OWI investigation is ongoing. Damage exceeded $5,000. 

Saturday, 9:28 p.m., CR 500S at the intersection of 700E, Bluffton. Marcus Troyer, 43, Bluffton, was driving a 2017 Toyota Highlander north on 700E and struck a deer in the roadway. Damage exceeded $2,500.
